But, if you remember her in any similar a matter as I do, you remember her as a blip. Circumstances as of late aren’t helping her breakout, however. She recently broke away from Columbia Records weeks before the set release of her album over an artistic dispute. She wants a longer, fuller album but the powers that be want to cut chunks out of it and bring it down to a shorter (and I’m presuming “listener friendly”) version. This is really unfortunate as I think she could have released a great album. She released her last album span style=”font-style: italic;”Get Away From Me/span accompanied with quite a bit of buzz. As it came at a time when Norah Jones was blowing up and I was craving some new Fiona, I thought I’d give it a try. It was good, but not really my style. Anyways, I’m sorry to hear that corporate bulls__t has brought about such a negative outcome for the time being… at least she didn’t compromise her artistic view.br /a onblur=”try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}” href=”http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/1133/636/1600/Avril%20Lavigne%20Maxim%20Magazine.jpg”img style=”margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer;” src=”http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/1133/636/200/Avril%20Lavigne%20Maxim%20Magazine.jpg” alt=”" border=”0″ //abr /Avril Lavigne will be shooting for the film release of the book Fast Food Nation along side of the likes of Ethan Hawke and Wilmer “Fez” Valderrama. Combine that with another film she’s shooting with Richard Gere and Claire Danes (actually, to be correct, I should note that span style=”font-style: italic;”they’re/span shooting with span style=”font-style: italic;”her/span), this year is looking to be the rebirth of a teen pop idol. Oops, I mean a young adult idol now.br /br /a onblur=”try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}” href=”http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/1133/636/1600/curtis%20mayfield%20doin%20it%20for%20the%20kids.jpg”img style=”margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; float: right; cursor: pointer;” src=”http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/1133/636/200/curtis%20mayfield%20doin%20it%20for%20the%20kids.jpg” alt=”" border=”0″ //aAs If this weren’t a sad enough post, it was today in 1999 that Curtis Mayfield passed on at the age of 57. In a slim effort to shed some sunshine on this post, here’s an mp3 to commemorate and celebrate the man’s work while he was alive:br /br /div style=”text-align: center;”a href=”http://homepage.mac.com/dbeirne/.Public/Curtis_Mayfield_Only_You.mp3″ /a p class=”MsoNormal”sCurtis Mayfield amp; The Impressions “Only You Babe”o:p/o:p/s/p br //div
