Anybody else notice that lynyrd skynyrd and alice in chains release albums on the same day? Couldn’t agree more chris.
Hey, I was friends with Layne… and knew Jerry back in the day too. As a matter of fact, about 20 years ago he was trying to hunt me down & kick my ass for the 20 bucks I owed him. Anyway, I was initially disgusted when I first heard about this new guy (William) singing for AIC, but I got over it. No, he’s not as good a singer as Layne; however, he is different enough in sound, appearance and stage presence that he doesn’t bother me anymore. In fact, I like the new tunes & he seems like a decent dude. If William were some white guy really striving to be a Layne look & sound-alike, it’d probably be a different story. There will never be another Layne & I think William is showing a great deal of respect & humility as he attempts to fill some very big shoes. All in all, I think the guys have really managed to move forward in a good direction while not disgracing the memory of Layne. I wish them the best & will probably even buy the album sometime soon.
I think they sound great. Besides, would you rather them give up their talents because Layne made a tragic mistake? Not me, bro.
