Well Duvall seems to be good enough for Jerry Cantrell sooo....???WTF??If he was a Layne clone people would bitch about that too.Of course he is not going to act like Layne on stage(Thank God) because he is not Layne. There was only 1 Layne Staley and nobody should try to clone him, his image, or persona.I'd like to see how some of these "critics" would act if they were up on stage.Prolly' piss down both legs and run off crying.AIC still rocks.

Sounded good, but gotta agree somewhat with Erick T. in the fact that while this guy may sound a lot like Layne, he does not seem to fit in with the band's persona with the "everybody sing along" and getting down into the crowd thing.

In the early 90's when AIC first started making a splash on the scene, remember what was popular? Warrant...Winger...and other hair metal bands. All of the bands did that whole "everybody sing along" stuff along with some of the best pirouettes I have ever seen in their shows. Part of the appeal of AIC was the dark, brooding sound which was a total opposite of the music scene at the time and back then was true "alternative".

I remember seeing Jani Lane, lead singer of Warrant, say that one time in his record company's office they replaced a big Warrant poster with an AIC poster and he said to himself..."we are so screwed". He knew there was a shift happening in the biz. People were tired of the big hair and wanted something different. Enter AIC.

I loved the fact that half of the time when he was performing, Layne looked like he didn't even want to be there. This was part of the persona and even between songs, when he talked he kind of had this chip on his shoulder, AKA the rock and roll "attitude". I think this was one of the things that have endeared AIC to me over the years. We need more of that attitude in music today.

The new guy isn't horrible at all and I like the new album, but I think that they could have changed the band name in respect to Layne and his legacy.

Wh@t! Erik may be looking for this but they were killer and Jerry did NOT ask anyone to clap and sing Will might of though. I was fortunate to see the acoustic set and the electric set and well they ROCKED the electric set pulling classics like "Them Bones" which I asked for during the acoustic set as a joke and Mike started to play it on his bass; then when we all walked over to the outdoor stage they played it! man in the box, rooster, would, dam I wish I could have gotten more (and guitar picks!).

well... musically & vocally that version of Would? isn't BAD... if you just listened and didn't watch it, it's passable.

but i agree, watching it was just kinda sad. early on when touring w/ Duvall and playing all those AIC songs (but touring was Jerry Cantrell), he said if they reunited it would be with a different name, which i would have been fine with. this is just a cash grab for sure.

Wow, that version of "Would" is absolutely terrible. Way to tarnish the band's legacy Jerry. I was lucky enough to see the Chains with Layne quite a few times, and he never asked the crowd to sing along or clap along with his music. There was a cool detachment and borderline disdain for his audience that added to the mystique and the menace of the band's music. All of that is clearly lost now with this obvious cash-grab by the rest of the band. I wish I wouldn't have watched this abomination.
