The Amherst trio had towers of amps stacked up all over the stage, including one that was pointed directly towards front man J Mascis, in case his monitors weren’t providing him enough of his own guitar sound. And not having enough sound has never really been a problem for the group, and it certainly wasn’t on this evening as the band tore through a fiery 90 minute set that spanned the band’s entire career.

  • Jeff says:

Going to SXSW this year meant missing Beach House in my hometown. I’m a little sad about that, their new album is sooo good.

  • Chris DeLine says:

And as life would have it I was up until about 2 last night after taking in Black Mountain at the same venue Beach House is at tonight…I don’t think my body would like it if I put it to test.

Was SXSW worth it this year – I’ve never been.

    2) I love this band. Their new album is one of my favorites in this young year.
