The Amherst trio had towers of amps stacked up all over the stage, including one that was pointed directly towards front man J Mascis, in case his monitors weren’t providing him enough of his own guitar sound. And not having enough sound has never really been a problem for the group, and it certainly wasn’t on this evening as the band tore through a fiery 90 minute set that spanned the band’s entire career.

After four full-length albums, a plethora of singles and EP’s and a move to the Arts and Crafts label with their April release Kensington Heights, these art-punk rocking Canadians are starting to really pick up steam while getting a lot of indie radio play with their frantic, fuzzed out single “Hard Feelings.” With their mix of heavy guitars, a tight rhythm section and the melodiously sexy vocal growl of lead singer Steve Lambke, it promises to be a sonic revelation Monday night in the Entry.
