The Amherst trio had towers of amps stacked up all over the stage, including one that was pointed directly towards front man J Mascis, in case his monitors weren’t providing him enough of his own guitar sound. Art Brut stopped by Spinner recently, recording a four song session for the site’s ongoing interface series. The group’s latest album, It’s A Complicated Bit, has received a highly receptive response since its release this past June. A friend recalls her love for the album, “the lyrics are just so amazingly funny and clever,” and for the most part every review you read online is going to hint at a similar reaction (one exception is that of Stylus’ Sam Ubl who begins “Art Brut? More like Fart Brut” before going on to explain that he loves both farts and Art Brut…even the album’s bad reviews aren’t bad).

For more audio and video of the group’s Interface set, including the tracks “Post Soothing Out” and “Good Weekend” as well as an interview head over to Spinner’s official Art Brut Interface page.
