I was really surprised by Bell’s live show… aside from seeing a few clips on YouTube (and that was months and months ago) I didn’t know what to anticipate. Also, the impact that the two drummers had was ferocious.

Olga had an enthusiasm about her that was very welcoming, and when she mentioned that this was their first tour (evah!) I was impressed even more by how comfortable they all seemed.

Asobi Seksu was crushing, and I can’t say that I thought they were lousy, or that I didn’t enjoy them, but my only criticism of the band was enforced in the live setting: I’m still not sure that Yuki’s style fits… They’ve been doing it for years, and they’re tight as hell, but the balance is just off enough so that every few songs I lose her in the wave of music that the band projects.

  • yeah – I know I told you this already Chris, but for the record “The Miner” was absolutely amazing. I really enjoyed bell’s set as well
