The Amherst trio had towers of amps stacked up all over the stage, including one that was pointed directly towards front man J Mascis, in case his monitors weren’t providing him enough of his own guitar sound. Billy Bragg on The Henry Rollins Show

Billy Bragg on The Henry Rollins Show.jpg

On this weekend’s upcoming episode of The Henry Rollins Show Billy Bragg performs and Henry Rollins interviews Steve Buscemi. There is some fantastic footage online however that shouldn’t be overlooked including and interview will Bragg and an interwe- exclusive video performance of “Bush War Blues.” Bragg’s introduction to the song is brilliant and casts a historically rebellious shadow over the song through a wonderful analogy surrounding Leadbelly and the song’s roots.

I was recently reminded of Bragg’s 1998 collaboration with Wilco, Mermaid Avenue. With Wilco’s Sky Blue Sky is on non-stop repeat and Bragg’s reintroduced through his television performance my reintroduction to the album came with perfect timing performance. If you haven’t heard or have but haven’t taken a listen in a while I strongly suggest re-upping the album this weekend.
