you have convinced me I need to buy this record - how can one not after reading this fabulous review? I particularly like your
"A listener left thinking that if such a journey, full of such snowballing climaxes and fulfilling closures, was as good as they thought it through its first listen…it may just be better the second time around."
I often find that listening to the albums I like the best - they often become better with time.

Great post - thanks, I enjoyed reading it.

No music is really new. Even the Beatles combined elements that previously existed. Music is like baking a cake or making a meal. Does the combinations work? Lately we had a lot of retrobands that were good. There were The Answer, Brought Low, White Stripes and others. All of them had good moments.
But this is the closest to perfect that you will get. It is Sunday morning and I am listening to it - what an experience. The same experience that I get from Listening to Led Zeppelin II or Uriah Heep's Demons and Wizards. Totally brilliant.

Thanks for the nice words...this is the first essential album of 2008 by my count...though I've still yet to hear are getting a bit of face time at some of my favorite sites.
