Blakroc feat. Raekwon “Stay Off the Flowers” Video

First dropping the killer “Ain’t Nothing Like You (Hoochie Coo)” in late 2009, the Black Keys-driven Blakroc project hasn’t really gotten anywhere due to its official status as a backseat project for everyone involved. Of course there’s also the wild success of the Keys’ last album to consider, which put a lid on any time they could really allocate to promoting the hip hop collaboration. That doesn’t take away the video though, which could easily double for a Diplo-esque Blackberry commercial featuring Raekwon, but it does beg to question the timing of things. The curious drop of the non-commercially viable “Stay Off the Fuckin’ Flowers” is made that much more interesting when taking into consideration that The Chef will be hitting Nashville for a performance in the near future; the city which the Black Keys relocated to late last year. It will be interesting to see if there’s any method to the madness there, or if the connection is simply coincidental. (Dap to Sound Verite’ for the tip.)
