BruteHeart “Demons”

Here in the Twin Cities we are lucky to have a local music scene that is in a constant state of change. Whenever things seem to become stagnant, new bands spring up to add fresh blood to the stream. One such nascent band is the Minneapolitan all-female trio BruteHeart. Utilizing a viola, bass, and drums, BruteHeart creates arty jazz-pop of a brooding variety. The band members occasionally harmonize off each other, but just as often they can be found experimenting with elements of discord in the vocals as well as instrumentals. Check out their single “Demons” with its seesawing viola and pounding percussion. If you dig it, keep an eye out for their debut LP which should be released sometime this fall. If you want more immediate satisfaction however, you can catch them at the Hexagon with Mute Era and To Kill a Petty Bourgeoisie on September 4.
