Incoming: Bun B “Let Em Know”
Bun B has long since been an established voice in modern hip hop, and in the realm of southern hip hop, the man’s pretty much a god. For good reason though: his long-established history with UGK propelled both him and Pimp C to international status, the duo staying at such celebrated heights of acclaim until Pimp C’s death in 2007. To an uninformed listener, however, that might mean little to nothing. What does mean something is how hard Bun brings it to his songs, and as “Let Em Know” showcases, his distinct vocals and sharp flow are as tight as ever. The track features DJ Premiere on the ones-and-twos, backing the Houston-native as he shouts out Gang Starr & Guru while—as the Vulture explains—”launching into a detailed, exceptionally convincing explication of why, exactly, no one is messing with him.” (source: Vulture)
