Burial “Untrue” (Best of the Decade)
I would be a bold-faced liar if I said I was a big dubstep fan before Burial came along, so let’s get that out of the way right off the bat. With that being said the success of his two discs, with a more direct emphasis on his stunning sophomore album Untrue, really provided me with a glimpse into a genre that had previously seemed foreign and distant. That is not to say that the sounds and songs on Untrue didn’t sound foreign and distant (they most certainly did), but the chilly atmospheric grime of the songs seemed to connect with me in a way that I had not before found with the genre. When I first heard “Archangel,” the stifling claustrophobia juxtaposed with the stuttering drums and pretty melody instantly made me want to hear more. Once I heard the entire disc it instantly became one of my go to albums for late rainy nights. While it is not an album that is very versatile (I wouldn’t throw this on at my next party), in the realm of what it is, the disc was a revelation for me and still finds its way back into my stereo after a few years.
Burial “Archangel” (mp3)

I have not really heard any other dubstep or whatever that has really caught my attention, but this album I really liked. Especially “Archangel”.
