Cate Le Bon “Byw Heb Farw”

cate-le-bon-promo

I just received a handful of advance songs from Welsh singer/songwriter Cate Le Bon (best known for being the highlight of Neon Neon’s “I Lust You” back in 2007) from her upcoming album. For anyone familiar with Le Bon’s fantastic first 7″ EP, she is taking her music in a decidedly different direction with the new stuff. Whereas her first releases were in English and had a bit of a country twang to them, Le Bon’s new songs all appear to be in Welsh. The twang is now more muted, replaced with a Nico-meets-Joni Mitchell psychedelic folk sound. To give you a taste of the old and the new, here is LeBon’s single “No One Can Drag Me Down,” off of her first EP, as well as “Byw Heb Farw” off of the new release. If this stuff is any indicator, the new record is going to be utterly fantastic.
