Common on Jimmy Kimmel Live

Bol thinks Finding Forever is horrible and the findings of a recent poll he ran pretty much conclude that most people think so as well; the album being voted second to last in terms of Common’s best. I have yet to hear it in its entirety but the tracks I have heard (”The Game,” “The People,” “Driving Me Wild”) have been fantastic, all with socially uplifting lyrics and driving beats (how is this not solid Common?). What do I know though, as in all seriousness I’m just some white kid (whaa?). Most recently Common appeared on The Tonight Show and Jimmy Kimmel Live, one performance with a political theatrical presence and one in a casual concert scenario. I must say that Common’s infiltration of generation-Gap may sympathize with his campaign performance on Leno, but it lacks the street-wise backbone that has made Common what he is. Sometimes it’s nice just to wear your street clothes and let the crowd have it (even if that crowd is a docile group house crowd of LA soccer dads).

The new common record is just so inconsistant. The tracks you have heard are solid, but he just misses a few too many to make this a memorable record for me.
