There have been a few really cool events that have transpired recently in reaction to the ongoing writers strike, but none more so entertaining than this recent clip on Late Night with Conan O’Brien. Whether it be playing with Springsteen’s Seeger Sessions Band or jamming out to some “Creep” O’Brien has definitely teased his ability to nut up to the bar and throw down some serious licks; last Friday he did just that, delivering a brilliant rendition of the 1947 Bill Monroe standard “Blue Moon of Kentucky.”

  1. I caught the last half of this when it was on, at first it looked like another of Conan’s unfunny try-too-hard goofy bits, but I sensed that part of the way thru something clicked, and he really got into it and by it’s end, it had turned into a semi-serious performance. Very cool.

  2. If this site lasts another year, somehow, I’m putting it as a front runner for Best Performance on Late Night TV…though we are hardly 2 weeks into the year…
