The Amherst trio had towers of amps stacked up all over the stage, including one that was pointed directly towards front man J Mascis, in case his monitors weren’t providing him enough of his own guitar sound. And not having enough sound has never really been a problem for the group, and it certainly wasn’t on this evening as the band tore through a fiery 90 minute set that spanned the band’s entire career.

Conor Oberst to Play Loring Pasta Bar 10/29/2008

Conor Oberst is hosting a free concert in support of Barack Obama on Wednesday, October 29th, at the Loring Pasta Bar in Dinkytown. This concert is free and open to the public – all you have to do to get in is sign up for two GOTV (get out the vote) shifts between November 1st and November 4th.

The stop comes as one of the few remaining shows for Oberst on his 2008 tour in support of this summer’s self titled album. (via MC)

    Not to put anything against volunteer work, because it is an absolutely beautiful thing, but I really get a kick out of how this concert is the carrot dangling in front of the indie rock fan
