The Amherst trio had towers of amps stacked up all over the stage, including one that was pointed directly towards front man J Mascis, in case his monitors weren’t providing him enough of his own guitar sound. And not having enough sound has never really been a problem for the group, and it certainly wasn’t on this evening as the band tore through a fiery 90 minute set that spanned the band’s entire career.

    i still wonder why mike gunther’s burn it down for the nails didn’t make more of an impact back in 2005 (wish he’d record or gig some more). also, looking forward to hearing the new tracks military special just recorded as soon as they get mastered.

    my favorite mpls band is the crust/grind punks in Ambassador Gun.. The whole aggressive music scene here deserves much more exposure in general, but these guys are masters of their craft and keep getting better.

    NYE bash at the Barfly would be nice!

    My favorite local songwriter is Ben Weaver. Consistently amazing lyrics and its been great to watch his musical progression…looking forward to much more.

    Also, that Cecil Otter record is slaying.

    It’s too hard to pick a favorite local artist so I picked my favorite local cd, which is Crescent Moon is in Big Trouble. Such a good cd and really cool cover artwork.
