Deftones Hole In The Earth.jpg

After releasing a brief preview of “Beware The Water” from the band’s upcoming Saturday Night Wrist album the boys in Deftones decided to let out a full-blown look at what is to come with this track, “Hole in the Earth.” The band has long since departed from its sound on the 1995 release Adrenaline, but by insisting on a more melodic brand of metal the band has survived. Coal Chamber’s not still around, are they?

  • I was an extremely huge Deftones fan up until about a year or two ago because of all of the other groups and genres that I have been drawn to since. Adrenaline was my favorite, and I even liked their self-titled, and most recent album, but this song is a little lacking. It tells me what i already know, and that is that Chino can sing, and Steph can play long drawn out melodic chords.

  • Okay, Parker. You need to see that these songs as a whole are about composition and excellent writing. The fact that Chino can sing and Steph, Chi, Abe and Frank back that vision with amazing skill is what makes that composition turn into an amazing song!

great song but to soft for me i love the deftones see them every time they come to dallas but these new song coming out sound more like teamsleep then deftones ur side project is done wit man stick to those heavy songs we know yall can do somthing we can rock hard to not be all sad chino if u read this man please make this album more harder like back in the days you made two slow albums deftones and white pony lets rock again man still love u guys hope u come buy dallas again keep rockin.

  • josepho says:

amazing song. they have progressed so much since adrenaline, into a timeless band making timeless music. salvador, this isn’t about you, or what you want the deftones to write. deftones make the music so they can feel something for themselves first, if they didn’t it woulden’t be honest and woulden’t touch people like it does, adrenaline and around the fur days are over, these guys have matured and you can tell in the music, it’s honest and beautiful, completley heart felt, I’m sure they still have rockin songs and alot of kick left, and still feel those same things, but personally, I love the new sound of Hole In The Earth, as well as Beware The Water, way deeper and “heavier” if you ask me. song writing at its finest. taking us other places, while still staying human. These guys know how to make good music. period. (no pun intended)

  • Hex says:

I agree with Josepho. Deftones’ music is so much more genuine and their talent is extremely solid. Their music is much more deeper than just jumping around in a mosh pit (altho that is fun sometimes) Ive seen these guys rip it up before on big stage, but the best experience was during there self titled release live show in 2003 at a bar with about 350 capacity. Absolutely astonishing…

  • "slenk" guevara says:

chino it’s amazing, chino is an intelligent poet, without losing its depressive vocal style.

  • Gav says:

yo,i don’t think that this tune is a patch on what deftones are capable of.sure it’s nice and melodic, but it’s getting to the stage where it seems like they don’t want to try any more-they have a fanbase now, fuck it,why try anything different?granted their sound has changed from adrenaline but it hasn’t progressed from ‘white pony’-in my opinion the best deftones album, although ‘around the fur’ is a close second-there’s some amazing tracks on ‘deftones’ but as a whole its a bit iffy.i hope this tune isn’t indicative of the album as a whole.

  • nasution says:

a hole in the earth is so beautiful. why go back to adrenaline days when deftones can progressed to a higher level ?? it’s not the same as white pony. this is something…different. much different. instead of soft it’s emotionally heavy. adrenaline is a super record, so does around the fur. but they shouldnt make albums like that anymore cos it would make those two records less exclusive. we are deftones fan. we’re not a fan of some stupid heavy metal band who plays the same thing for 30 years. now seriously, do you really expect deftones to do the same thing like they did more than 10 years ago ?! (1995: adrenaline)

  • britney says:

i love this song, im a first time listener to deftones and i heard this song on the radio the other day and cant get it out of my head!! rock on guys

  • ASHMAN says:

Since white pony all Ive seen is big fat frat guy push pits, kind kills the live scene. I still like the music but the crew has changed.
