Delaney Davidson “Around the World”

Submitted by Jon Behm on October 22, 2009 – 11:12 amNo Comment

Kiwi musician Delaney Davidson will be visiting the Twin Cities tonight when he plays Palmer’s Bar. Though he is still flying under the radar to some extent, Davidson is a supremely talented songwriter of the murder ballad oeuvre. Taking cues from American roots, as well as its modern day interpreters like Tom Waits and Nick Cave, Davidson plays gritty, bluesy folk music of a dark and melancholy nature. I highly recommend his first record Ghosts Songs, but here is a new track off his latest project, the name of which I am not yet privy to. “Around the World” is a great example of his bleak, evocative songwriting and no, it’s not a Daft Punk cover.
