The Amherst trio had towers of amps stacked up all over the stage, including one that was pointed directly towards front man J Mascis, in case his monitors weren’t providing him enough of his own guitar sound. Details surface about new Madvillain album

Submitted by Tim Althaus on October 28, 2009 – 3:25 pmNo Comment

Yet again we have another great piece of news in the world of hip hop. I got a text message from a good buddy today that read, “HOLY SHIT, DID YOU SEE THE NEWS ABOUT MADVILLAIN AT PITCHFORK!?” Being the skeptic that I am, I had to check this out for myself. In 2004, Madlib & MF Doom joined forces to put out one of the most memorable albums of the decade. On Madvillainy, Madlib shaped and molded his production around MF Doom’s style, and the outcome was like nothing anyone had heard before. As Pitchfork’s homepage loaded, my eyes were abruptly fixated on the headlines: “New Madvillain Album in the Works“; yes, it’s true. Five years after putting out a magnificent masterpiece, Madlib & DOOM are back in the lab working on re-inventing the wheel once again.

This YouTube video is even further proof that the rumors are true. Apparently J.Rocc played some track snippets while he was DJ’ing for Fat Beats Live Radio recently. From the sound of the tracks that he let loose, this album is going to be nothing short of interesting.
