Doves Announce 2009 Tour Dates
Manchester’s Doves are coming back to Minneapolis for the first time in nearly seven years, touring behind their forthcoming record Kingdom Of Rust. The band, who have had to cancel their last two scheduled shows in Minneapolis, finally return to play the Varsity on May 28th, after previously playing the 7th Street Entry (with the Strokes opening), First Ave and the Fine Line (with Elbow opening) in 2002. Doves have always had a big, ethereal sound that should translate well to the confines of the Varsity, and from the sound of the first couple of tracks that have been released from Kingdom Of Rust thus far, the band has crafted another sonic tour de force. This certainly goes on the calendar as one of the shows I’m looking forward to the most in 2009.
