El Michels Affair “Bring Da Ruckus” (Wu-Tang Clan cover)

el-michels-affair-37-chamber

A bunch of white guys recording a full length album of remixed Wu-Tang instrumentals. Sound awesome? Normally I would say hell no. However El Michels Affair hooked me early on when I discovered their excellent remix of Raekwon’s “Glaciers of Ice” a few years back. The group has cruised under the radar while collaborating with hugely popular acts like the Wu-Tang, Sharon Jones, and even Jay-Z. Now they are releasing their entire catalog of re-imagined Wu-instrumentals in the cheekily titled LP Enter the 37th Chamber. “Bring Da Ruckus” has been released prematurely to give listeners a taste of what is to come. Though the song lacks Ghostface Killah screaming “bring da motherfucking ruckus” throughout the chorus, it’s an interesting journey into fleshing out some of the jazz and soul influences that producer RZA originally drew from to architect his masterpiece.
