The Amherst trio had towers of amps stacked up all over the stage, including one that was pointed directly towards front man J Mascis, in case his monitors weren’t providing him enough of his own guitar sound. And not having enough sound has never really been a problem for the group, and it certainly wasn’t on this evening as the band tore through a fiery 90 minute set that spanned the band’s entire career.

With a tight knit, pounding funk rock, I was introduced to the band initially through the music video for the single. I remember being blown away by an abundance of sexually intensified power and I was greatly impressed by the look and sound of the band. Since then, the band has experienced a huge cult following overseas as well as in Canada. A number of mainstream media plugs in the States have done little to spur the interest and acceptance the band truly deserves. If you want to check the bands latest album, span style=”font-style: italic;”Sleep Is The Enemy/span, it will be released in the US in May. If you live in Canada, or most of Europe, it’s already out there; go get it!br /br /a href=”http://dankojones.com/downloads/dankojones.com_First_Date.mp3″Danko Jones “First Date”/a span style=”font-weight: bold; color: rgb(255, 0, 0);”(mp3)/span (from Sleep is the Enemy)br /a href=”http://dankojones.com/downloads/dankojones.com_bounce.mp3″Danko Jones “Bounce”/a span style=”font-weight: bold; color: rgb(255, 0, 0);”(mp3)/spanbr /a href=”http://dankojones.com/downloads/dankojones.com_heartbreak_s_a_blessing.mp3″Danko Jones “Heartbreak’s A Blessing”/a span style=”font-weight: bold; color: rgb(255, 0, 0);”(mp3)/spanbr /a href=”http://dankojones.com/downloads/dankojones.com_soul_on_ice.mp3″Danko Jones “Soul on Ice”/a span style=”font-weight: bold; color: rgb(255, 0, 0);”(mp3)/spanbr /a href=”http://dankojones.com/downloads/dankojones.com_ice_cold_angel.mp3″Danko Jones “Ice Cold Angel”/a span style=”font-weight: bold; color: rgb(255, 0, 0);”(mp3)/spanbr /br /a href=”http://dankojones.com/”Danko Jones – Official Site/abr /a href=”http://www.myspace.com/dankojones”Danko Jones – MySpace Site/a span style=”font-weight: bold; color: rgb(255, 0, 0);”(3 songs)/span
