The Amherst trio had towers of amps stacked up all over the stage, including one that was pointed directly towards front man J Mascis, in case his monitors weren’t providing him enough of his own guitar sound. Various sources have scanned the cast of characters who performed Monday night behind Leslie Feist during her performance on The Late Show with David Letterman and the conclusion of just who what there is close to jawdroppingly impressive. So who are those folks in the background, clapping in a sea of white? Oh, just members of Grizzly Bear, The National, Mates of State, The New Pornographers, Broken Social Scene and Nicole Atkins (among others). It’s a great performance, but is it the best late night television performance of the year? Nope, but in all fairness – Feist’s previous performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, playing acoustic with a band in a city bus is pretty hard to top.

i have to disagree- sure the bus performance was good but was it her idea to perform in a bus? The setting was unusual but the performance aspect on Letterman was better overall (the number of indie superstars, energy, and how the music sounded).

I don’t know…I still have to stick with the bus…guess we’ll just agree to disagree.
