I’m not sure which acts as a more uplifting sentiment, Pitchfork’s Mark Pytlik giving Sound of Silver a 9.2/10, calling it “as close to a perfect hybrid of dance and rock music’s values as you’re likely to ever hear,” or the tasteless Alternative Press perceiving it as “Merely Okay.” The album is something quite remarkable and it sets itself far apart from the majority of current popular music in a number of ways. The maturity of James Murphy’s songs distinctly contrast that of the first LCD full-length as his songs carry distinct analyzed themes which accompany the densely weighted tracks. They flow and seamlessly incorporate modern thought and influence into his ongoing style. And as such let’s begin the week by taking a listen to some of what helped this gem materialize. This performance marks LCD Soundsystem’s appearance at Ireland’s 2005 Electric Picnic.

Alternative Press should never review outside their designated genre, I’ve seen it time and again, they simply don’t know what they’re talking about.

And even at that, giving over a quarter of the albums reviewed a perfect score somewhat limits the credibility of their emo-core (or whatever their current designated genre is) reviews. You, my friend, hit it on the nose!
