2007 was an interesting year in terms of releases that (even remotely) bordered the edges of punk, many of which I found to be down right suspect if not laughable however. Approach the new year and this band’s however you may, but I consider Flogging Molly to be as true to heart as any currently amongst that whole Warped Tour/Hot Topic kinda scene – and no matter how boring many of the contemporaries might be I still mean well by that statement (actually I went to the retailer’s web site for a little fact checking, to see if FM still stood out as one of those types of bands and it appears that the kids have moved onto Alice in Chains, Skinny Puppy and Clap Your Hands Say Yeah…ever the eclectics, aren’t they? Bless their hearts!). Take Pennywise for instance – “Fuck Authority,” really? This…still being played on current tours, from a band who recently signed to release an album through MySpace after publicly ripping Fox News? Really? At any rate, Float should be a great listen.
