Frank Turner “Try This At Home”

frank turner poetry deed

Folk-punk songwriter Frank Turner is on a roll with subsequent releases each of the past three years: Poetry of the Deed getting it’s release the day after Labor Day this year (hot on the heels of 2008’s Love Ire & Song and 07’s Sleep is for the Week). The British artist has a bit of a ragged edge from his post-punk roots, lending a bite to his political/social commentaries: imagine being somewhere close-by with Billy Bragg getting drunk, losing his shit, and starting a fight with someone. While Poetry’s first single is “The Road,” it may also be worth your while to give “Try This At Home” a listen. It’s a savage critique of music and culture, all to the tune of a Dropkick Murphys-esque drinking anthem. Expect a few alcohol fueled singalongs on Turner’s upcoming tour of the U.S. where he will be opening for the Gaslight Anthem.
