Jon – Thanks for all the kind words you always write about PD! We appreciate it.

We were originally supposed to play for 90 minutes. We put most of our original stuff at the end of the setlist but we were told we only had time for one more with almost 6 songs left. This was after we cut a bunch of songs due to the DJ debacle.

So yeah, sorry you had to hear a bunch of covers you’ve probably heard us do a million times! We are recording our follow-up album now and have lots of new songs. Time to put a lot of these covers on the shelf for awhile!

hopefully they do bring it at RTG, but i wouldn’t be surprised if they’re just kind of tired of playing the same songs they have been for the last 4 years (i realize they’ve recently started playing a few new ones tho).

I hate to say it Ali but I kind of know what you mean. I remember the energy behind some of their Turf Club shows or their fantastic recent First Ave set and the last couple of times I have seen them they haven’t really matched it.

I still think that they are a great band though and am looking forward to the RTG experience as well. I just hope that they really tear into the music without holding back at all

I’d have to disagree about Solid Gold’s set. For the first half of their performance, they seemed totally asleep. I’ve been a fan for years now, and I’ve seen them do waaay better. Lead’s voice wasn’t warmed-up until nearly the end, and they were pretty much going through the motions, not communicating with each other or the audience. As I looked around at the rest of the crowd to see who was enjoying themselves, I didn’t see a ton of happy faces. I know they can do better. Perhaps it was too early for these cats? That, or booze is to blame.

They’d better kick some serious ass at Rock the Garden.

Josh, the past few mentions you’ve made of Private Dancer lead me to believe that it’s high time I check those guys out live–though I must say, comparing stage banter to Lenny Bruce is dangerous territory.
