Performing for the first time as a group on American network television Grinderman blazed through “Honey Bee (Let’s Fly To Mars)” recently on The Late Show with David Letterman. The band features Bad Seeds members Warren Ellis, Martyn Casey and Jim Sclavunos as well as the incomparable Nick Cave. Cave, who will turn fifty next month, is such a refreshing presence on stage, exerting an admirable level of energy. I’d like to call it the Iggy Pop syndrome, if I may; a musician who by all means could relax and dim the lights on their respective careers who continues to push life as far as it will go. Nick Cave is one such musician and Grinderman definitely pushes rock and roll to its grittiest of boundaries.
