Iggy & The Stooges: New Track “My Idea of Fun”

Despite last year’s surge in reunited bands releasing new material 2007 may prove far more important with releases by terrific bands including Dinosaur Jr. and The Stooges returning to the studio (and inevitably the stage). The band recently released a new track from its upcoming album The Wierdness entitled “My Idea of Fun.” Though the majority of the song revolves around Iggy rumbling “My idea of fun is killing everyone,” the song doesn’t quite stand up to previous expectations. Maybe a few more listens will prove otherwise.

  • Matt says:

When most bands grow older they change their sound to match their age. They get more complicated arrangements and lyrics and reflect aged views on the world. At least, thats what Ive noticed from nearly all bands that were once known for being rebellious. Those that dont, like this Iggy Pop album and the Beasties album from a few years back, fail to make the same impression as say a new Sonic Youth album. Why? Because theyre trying to sound the same, and you cant do that when youre 60.

Iggy…..he is still the godfather of punk, and he still is the best.
