From the Wake: “Dear The Kids At Isis Tonight Who Were Moshing And Throwing The Horns During A Prolonged Ambient Guitar Interlude In The Middle Of A Song From ‘In The Absence of Truth’”…
It would seem that some members of the crowd weren’t down with “chillin”…
well, at least it must’ve been a MUCH different show than this one. MetalSucks: “IS ISIS GETTING BORING OR SHOULD I HAVE SMOKED WEED BEFORE THE SHOW?”
the moshing and horns pretty weird, though. the first time it happened seemed like a spontaneous burst of emotion that was pretty cool, but after a while it got a bit annoying as it continued throughout the duration (i even saw one kid get blatantly made fun of after rushing through the crowd and replying “me and my friend are going to MOSH!!” after asked wtf he was doing).
however, I had a great angle on the stage and the sound, and some young’uns moshin’ to some verrrry heavy metal/hardcore influenced music definitely didn’t get in my way of thoroughly enjoying the performance. i can’t tell how sarcastic deniz is, but what does he expect? they just got down touring nationwide with tool not so long ago…
btw, great pictures adam. i was hoping to take some too, but realized i left my battery at home once i took out my camera during keelhaul’s set.. bummer.
Last time I saw Isis was 6 or so years ago (the tour around when Oceanic came out) and I haven’t really listened to the last couple records since Panopticon came out. I really like the Isis sound and I still like Celestial and Oceanic, but a lot of the newer songs sounded a little too same-y to me. I still enjoyed it though mostly, just got a little bored moving on. Good to hear a song from Oceanic at least.
I was trying to get myself a better spot to take some pictures but I never really got anywhere. There was also one point where a large dude was looking for someone who had somehow wronged him and almost starting a fight with a kid in front of me.
