The Amherst trio had towers of amps stacked up all over the stage, including one that was pointed directly towards front man J Mascis, in case his monitors weren’t providing him enough of his own guitar sound. And not having enough sound has never really been a problem for the group, and it certainly wasn’t on this evening as the band tore through a fiery 90 minute set that spanned the band’s entire career.

Isis: “The Absense of Truth” Update

Featured on the upcoming album The Absence of Truth is this track that completely surprises titled “Dulcinea.” Proving itself as a complete change of pace for the band, it plays at a radio-friendly length of 3:20 and abuses pitch enhancers to give the track a pornographic look at what should never have been. OK, you got me. This track is a blurry, guitar-based, 7+ minute song in the played exclusively in the key of I(sis).

  • I like the off timing that starts the song off with, and they sound like they have some Tool influence, but with low screaming instead of high screaming. The breakdown at the end is well done as well, and instrumental, which rules.
