Jana Hunter “Inoculist” Review

Jana Hunter recently released a limited edition split 7” EP with her brother’s band Inoculist on one side and her own track on the other. Inoculist’s “Provenance” is a minimalist descent into pastoral psychedelia, a melancholy guitar over a dark expanse of tambourine chimes and layers of bleak lyricism. It is certainly more conventionally melodic than Hunter’s song, “Two Cocks Waving Wildly at Each Other Across a Vast, Open Space, a Dark, Icy Tundra,” a more experimental offer. Hunter’s track is in keeping with her previous output, and if anything marks a turn towards even more stripped down low-fi recordings.
