The Amherst trio had towers of amps stacked up all over the stage, including one that was pointed directly towards front man J Mascis, in case his monitors weren’t providing him enough of his own guitar sound. And not having enough sound has never really been a problem for the group, and it certainly wasn’t on this evening as the band tore through a fiery 90 minute set that spanned the band’s entire career.

Japanese Motors “Brand New Everything” (Premiere)

Submitted by Chris DeLine on November 6, 2008 – 1:15 pm5 Comments

You’re hearing it here first: a b-side from the latest self-titled release from Orange County’s Japanese Motors. “Brand New Everything (version 2)” is two minutes and 24 seconds of fury – the song rips into your soul, grabs a beer, and shotguns it before you can say “hey, don’t rip into my soul.” Check out some exclusive videos of singer Alex Knost recording the song after the jump.

Remember the absurdity of the David Lee Roth’s vocal track from “Runnin’ with the Devil”? No matter how much DLR’s jams rule within the context of the song, they’re a bit goofy standing alone on their own, right? It’s all in the context, baby… it’s all in the context.

This track is fuckin rad I seen them perform it at CMJ in New York a couple of weeks ago and they killed it. Alex has crazy stage presence and these recording clips are excellent.

  • Chris DeLine says:

Yeah they are! I haven’t seen the band live (yet) but when that time comes I can only hope that the performance reflects what I’ve seen from YouTube clips and heard about from friends.

  • Bobby A says:

They are def worth checking out man. I only seen the last couple of songs they played at Piano’s but that was good enough. Alex was off the stage singing in the middle of the crowd.

  • Chris DeLine says:

    Sounds like my kinda show!

Clicking on the mp3 link takes me to the “Something’s wrong” page…
