Jay Electronica “Defcon 4″ & “Suckas”

Submitted by Tim Althaus on October 26, 2009 – 4:15 pmNo Comment

The world can never have enough Jay Electronica material. For real. And thanks to the interhighway, we have two new amazing Jay Electronica tracks. Jay makes it apparent in both of these lost treasures that—even back then—he was destined to become a prophet on the microphone. The last two years have been great for Jay; the buzz on this guy has had the hip hop community going crazy. While many people find themselves doubting whether or not a full-lenth Jay Electronica album will surface, I can tell you one thing is for sure: I’m patiently waiting.

The first track, “Defcon 4,” is apparently an unreleased track that dates all the way back to 2001. It’s very brief, but it allows the listener to gain an insight into the “bigger picture.” [via 2 Dope Boyz]

The second track, “Suckas,” features Jay spewing spitefully over some classic J Dilla production. If you’ve never heard Jay flow over a Dilla beat, it’s an absolute must. While many emcees have been featured over Dilla’s beats in the past, in my opinion, Jay is one of the most complementary. Listen and take notes from the master. [via Nah Right]
