The fact that he has a completely different sound than the strokes shows that he is in fact truly the creative figure in the band and most likely the driving force for their sound. It does make sense that the other band members released music that is not a departure from the classic strokes sounds because they lack the range. I agree with the above person, what would be the point in doing a side project/solo album if you are just going to stick with the same sound. He shows a great range but venturing out and making someone truly creative. How unfortunate for you that you are unable to do the same and are content with listening to the same music from the same people without even the slightest change.

I disagree... The album is different with synths in a good way, side projects don't have to be like the band. It shows he has a more broad taste in sound. I.e. Julian Plenti has songs with acoustic in it that you don't hear Paul Banks do with Interpol and Team Sleep has a sound you don't hear Chino do with the Deftones. It would not be as good, people would say if it sounded exactly the same "Why didn't you just do another Strokes/Interpol/Deftones album?"

yup yup "11th Dimension" soars and "Out of the Blue" is cool .......the record cools off a bit, still a nice short guilty pleasure....despite whatever The Strokes did almost a decade ago. It will surely piss off fans who only loved Is This It and Room On Fire. The record is so short he should have included the 3 bonus cuts found on the itunes version.

cheers
