The Amherst trio had towers of amps stacked up all over the stage, including one that was pointed directly towards front man J Mascis, in case his monitors weren’t providing him enough of his own guitar sound. And not having enough sound has never really been a problem for the group, and it certainly wasn’t on this evening as the band tore through a fiery 90 minute set that spanned the band’s entire career.

  • Bryan says:

My dislike for this guy knows no limits.

  • Chris DeLine says:

Expand on that if you could…I know a lot of people who find him egotistical if not borderline narcissistic, but we all come in contact with those same kind of people in our day-to-day lives.. I figure that at least Kanye tends to back up his boasting about his how fantastic his music is with…fantastic music.

  • Bryan says:

Egotistical? Yes. Narcissistic? Yes. Jackass? Yes. The whole ordeal with his speech running long so they run the music, then he complains about it. He doubled everyone else’s speech length. Then there are the previous blowups back stage over various things. He’s just an all around douche. And I find his music boring. He stinks as a rapper too….imo.

  • Chris DeLine says:

Haha, well, that’s why opinions are a personal thing I suppose. I can’t really attest to or defend any of the speeches you mentioned as I haven’t forced myself to sit through the televised Grammys in years but I don’t think its fair to judge an anyone based on a few moments, especially when those moments are always in the public eye – double-especially when we the viewing audience aren’t necessarily impartial. If everyone took everything I did or said seriously, or held me to my continual faults or slip ups, I doubt I’d have a single person left to call a friend. That…and I think he’s a solid rapper. His Saturday Night Live freestyle from last year really impressed me in that he took a flawed moment and made something unique and memorable out of it…and I suppose Graduation isn’t half bad either. :-)

  • Bryan says:

    You’re too nice. ;)
