That’s the “supply and demand” law. As long as he can sell out all his concerts, tickets will be expensive. Anyway I should not blame on LC.
If you consider that a concert ticket for bad commercial music (e.g. Lady Gaga or Bon Jovi) is just slightly cheaper, then you would agree that LC is not so expensive.
Morover you should consider that going to a concert of LC is a lifetime experience.
My salary is not huge, but since I love good music, I can save money in order to go once or twice per year to great concerts. I can wait to buy a new car or a fashion jacket which are more expensive than a concert ticket.

I was fortunate to see him in Brisbane. the price was of no consideration. The real question is “How much do you value your own life experience?” Enough to allow yourself such an experience.
It is rare that such a man graces the stage, a bit musician and a bit saint.
I think Sir Leonard Cohen has a nice ring to it.

Back in the late 60′s at a Central Park concert (Schaeffer Music Festival, tickets 2 bucks!) towards the end of a Judy Collins concert, a shy young man stepped out of the shadows to sing a few songs. He was Leonard Cohen.

Saw him and the band last night. As I have to agree that prices seemed steep, especially for Kingtson, Ontario. Firstly saw the prices when they went on sale and hesitated. Decided to take the plunge a short time later and they were gone. My wife lucked out with a co-worker who bought the tickets and then found out he couldn’t go so we bought them.
Worth every penny and minute. What a show and they played for 3 hours. An encor like no other.
He is truly a legend and a master. I as a Canadian am very proud and feel blessed and honoured to be able too see and experienc his live performance and passion for his works. AMAZING! Have seen lots of concerts in my 50 yrs and I would be first in line to see him again.
My wife and are still “Dancing to the end of Love”.

Worth every penny you pay. Austin 1st show sold out in 41 minutes, 2nd show was scheduled and sold out immediately also. True, most of these tickets go to scalpers these days but it still was a full house. Never seen a show like it, wake up every day with a song in my heart. Hallelujah.

I’ve passed up many concerts and events because I couldn’t pay the price, but I took the plunge for this one (and traveled hundreds of miles in the bargain). I don’t regret a penny of it. I saw him last night and it was a stupendous show with nine top-notch musicians. Absolutely one of the best performances I’ve seen by anybody.

Nietzsche said that we have to have art to keep us from dying of the truth. I’m with Jo in that art keeps me alive, and I try to do my bit to return the favor now and again. I also wish that the show could be available to the thousands of those who simply can’t afford it. Our entire system is skewed and I don’t think it’s Cohen’s fault. While we work to fix it–or sit and complain–I intend to hear some music. Some will be expensive, and some will be free. All will enrich my soul, which is what has kept me going when the groceries have run out (and believe me, I’ve been there).

You people who are moaning about paying top dollar for a legend are amazing me. I am glad you have a house payment to make, I don’t.
I am poor, but rich in the arts and I spent $171 to see Mr Cohen.
The arts and artists like Leonard Cohen have been my life’s blood.
But then again, you probably didn’t major in the arts like I did. You just don’t “get” it. If I didn’t have people like Cohen in my life I would be empty. Seeing him in Chicago on May 5th, will most likely be a religious experience that has no price tag. I need groceries too, but I need inspiration and man does not live by bread alone. I have been all over the world and wouldn’t trade that for anything either. You moaners must be small minded from small towns. Just not my types.

writing this in the UK and hopefully coming over to NY in May to see Leonard Cohen. How you lot can moan about the prices amazes me. The man is a living legend.
