Lil Wayne “Rebirth” Review

rebirth cover lil wayneIt has been nearly a year since “Prom Queen” was released as the first single from Lil Wayne’s highly speculated rock album, a record which was later rumored to see release sometime in 2009. Since then, the album’s release was confirmed and three other tracks from the record were officially released, however Rebirth‘s release was pushed back multiple times despite Wayne himself confirming that the record had been finished in August. While the album was again given a formal release date recently, this time set for February of 2010, coincidentally just days before Weezy’s impending sentencing date stemming from a 2007 weapons possession charge, Rebirth was leaked by, of all places, Amazon.com (as some 500 copies were prematurely sent out to fans who had pre-ordered it). While the circumstances surrounding the leak are unfortunate, what’s even more unfortunate is that with Rebirth actually hitting the streets, the highly talented, highly prolific, and highly acclaimed emcee has now officially released the worst album of his career.

Lil Wayne has never been one to shy away from the spotlight, or publicly express any sense of honest self-consciousness, but in Rebirth‘s lead track, “American Star,” the emcee sets a precedent that eventually explains why the record never had a chance to begin with. “Listen to my own voice, in my black Rolls-Royce; get the girls of my choice to take off their shorts and blouses, I take of my trousers.” Like the lyrics, Rebirth is—even compared to Weezy’s other matierial—overindulgent, but more importantly, the album is entirely humorless; from the get-go Rebirth is simply a record where, whether purposefully or not, Weezy takes himself, and his craft far, far too seriously, and suffers greatly for it.

“Prom Queen,” the DJ Infamous & Drew Correa-produced single that sparked discussion about the possibility of the album, drops as Rebirth‘s second track. While the initial shock of how pathetic it is as a stab at some sort of rock stardom has wore off (slightly) since is was released in January, the evidence remains that Weezy still lacks any sort of chops when stepping into the world of guitar-driven rock. “Ground Zero” follows as a unique hybrid, where Wayne fails to fully commit to either rapping or aggo-yelling; it’s a tired comparison, but Weezy is honestly a backwards red NY Yankees ball-cap away from full on Limp Bizkitry here.

The only highlight on the record comes with Eminem’s verse on “Drop The World.” Unfortunately a minute of cohesion doesn’t make up for an album’s worth of poorly constructed confusion.

Rebirth eventually closes with two of its worst tracks, “Knockout” and “The Price is Wrong.” If nothing else, “Knockout” stands as one of the best examples as to why vocoderized pop punk should not exist. “The Price is Wrong,” however, has many more issues. The drop-tuned, overly aggressive power chords used in the track translate as so completely empty that they’d hardly cut it with the worst of the current batch of bands residing on pretty much any station still using “X-treme” in its tag line. The song thankfully fades away, but as it does so, it concludes with Weezy repeatedly barking, “Fuck her anyway;” which is ironic as the feeling which follows is “Fuck Wayne… anyway.”

Rebirth is a stunningly sour example of why Lil Wayne should stick to what he’s good at. He can seemingly lay down 100 bars at a moment’s notice, and at this point in time it’s almost guaranteed that at least a few of them are going to be smart, funny, and downright untouchable. But take the emcee outside of that realm and he’s lost—put a guitar in his hand, and he becomes a lost fool. As an emcee, Wayne has produced a series of remarkably sharp studio recordings that has given credence to accusations that he’s one of the best rappers alive. That being said, Lil Wayne has clearly smoked himself retarded as he believes that he is equally strong as a vocalist and musician, which clearly he is not. No further proof of this is needed other than a single listen to Rebirth.

lol..the only good thing was Drop the world..agreed…But Em owns that track
nywyz…Wating for Relapse 2 and tha carter 4

  • This review is trash…I listened to rebirth myself..And its a great album.

  • I’m not sold. If you did listen to it, as you claim to have done, I can’t see how you could possibly come to the conclusion that it’s a “great album.”

  • It is an absolutely terrible album. There is no argument about it. Lil Wayne tried to create an experimental rock album and failed like no one else could. Listen to “Get A Life” on repeat for a little while and still tell me that it could be a track on a great album.

  • but he listened to it HIMSELF!

  • That comment is trash… I read it myself… And it’s a… oh, forget it.

  • correctiion his record label wanted hiim ta do iit. He a goood rapper best ever!!! Iif yu a hater thn y yu on here? Ghet bakk at me niqqaz.

  • If you think for one moment that a label has the cash-cow that is the Young Money empire under their collective thumb–pushing Wayne to make albums (which has clearly been a problem in the past… he only releases 100+ songs each year) that he doesn’t want to make–you’re completely lost.

Wayne wanted this album just like Wayne wanted to pull his crappy stunt on Saturday Night Live and riff out to one of the worst guitar solos of all time.

Labels aren’t pushing Weezy to do any of this, Weezy’s pushing labels, and he’s allowed to do so because of the clout he has as one of the key money-makers in a time when album sales are essentially shit. Those signing the checks know for a fact that if they release anything with Lil Wayne’s name on it, people like “yeaa111″ (above) are going to buy it regardless of whether it’s “great” or not.

  • this album is beyond bad…

  • It’s not terrible it’s decent.

  • Go back and listen to, American Star, Prom Queen, Ground Zero, Paradice, On fire, Drop the world, Running, One way, and Knockout…and REALLY listen to them, and tell me that you didnt prejudge with this trash review. You even said Drop the World was the best song on the album, and Paradice, Running, and One Way was much better..

  • Being the best-worst song on a terrible disc isn’t saying much. A diamond encrusted turd is still a turd.

  • the people defending this, you guys must be fans of Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, 311, etc. as well, that’s the only way i can fathom it.

  • Who writes this crap? The album is dope, theres a few bad songs, that’s coming from someone whos been listening to rap and rock n roll for 20 years.

  • $20 says Adam is 23 years old.

  • I like the on fire single. Some liqour n a sexy girl to strip to it didn’t Hurt tho…

  • Well ~ I actually did a video review of this album that can be seen on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qVCSOZcJFVc

In a nutshell, this was NOT a great cd and (after I woke up from my “rebirth” induced comatose state) I went to the toilet (to hurl) and did this review…

  • Lets be real. This ish is trash. What the hell kind of drugs is this guy taking? You have the rap world at your feet highest grossing rap tour the money and acclaim was endless for this guy. To make some ish like this is insane. You take a risk like this when your career is in ruin and your willing to do anything to get back in the game because you have nothing to loose. You never take this risk at the height of your career there is no need for it. Dropping this type of album and going to jail after and dissapearing from the seen without the ability to do damage control is career suicide. Honestly I think the labels allowed this leak to show this crackhead A** Ni*** that this is not what the public wants from you. I don’t know what it is about being on top that makes people loose their Fuc**** mind, but this is amazing. It seems like everyone who gets to the top just Fu**s it up purpously. You never saw Jay not follow the blueprint thats why he has managed to stay on top as long as he has. All he talks about is money so it would seem that he would recognize that as long as you have the power the money follows. Why would you open the door for someone else to gain the power that you have? I will end with this please give me your connects number because he must have the best drugs ever made LOL.

  • Sike lil wayne releases more than 150+ songs nd remixs a year. Not including tha leaks tht ghet outt. Do yu honestly thnk lil wayne wants ta do some of tha songs tht he does ? Iif yu do yur ignarent about weezy, yung money , nd musiic rappers thm selves cuz wayne is riich. Yu should kno tht. Most rappers do it for fun or to ghet money. Wayne has money. If yu see him at tha mall he got paid ta do iit. If yu see him at tha store he was paid to be there. Understand he didnt really wanna do tha rock album. But guess y they diid tht??? ( To ghet money)! Kno yur facts b4 yu put stuff out on tha internet biîtch nîqqa!
    WEEZY=Best Rapper Aliive!

  • worst. speller. ever.

  • Na niqqa bîitch its called typing fast cuz i dnot wanna b on here i habe a life.
I cn turn nuns ta tricks.

  • The album is….not his best work. It’s actually kind of hard to listen to.

“Rayy”, You do realize that most legitimate people can type fast without sounding like complete idiots? Maybe you should spend all this time you’re saving coming up with better excuses for your general stupidity. Typing “ghet” for “get” to save time? An extra letter…to save…okay.

  • Yu stupiid for tryna act like a hardd female. Adding one more letter. Itz cuz thts tha way im use to typing on my iphone so itz faster!!! Nd we r here tlkn bout weezy so iif yu gonna come on here ta change tha subject thn go on 50 cents website!!!

  • Im not gonna waste my time downloading the album, im sure ill hear enough on the radio when it does come out in stores, but it was a good laugh reading these comments, bad albums and bad album reviews make me laugh.

  • I read some blogs about this lately. & majority of the people who comment just hop on the bandwagon. I give the album a 7 out of 10. Deuces!

  • Fo sho phresh these dudes dnot kno wat they tlkn boutt

  • I have this album on my HD i can confirm this review is %100 accurate This album is trash sorry weezy but you can’t rock man go back to big bass bumpin like you know you will, Its what you do Sorry but your still not the best rapper alive or rocker alive. I really hope he doesn’t try to claim the best rocker alive tittle with this POS. Don’t get me wrong i love to chill and listen to weezys raps not his rocks… =/ Seemed almost to childish rock anyway.

I Can tell you all now theres no way he will ever stick to just this rock shenanigans. PCE

  • Idk if you guys havent seen this album but its pretty good, its not trash and i just dnt like how it switches fro different rock genres every song and some rock genres i really do not like. This is not amazing but he atleas fufills his promise on a rock album, that can be called rock and lil waynes first verses on the drop the world was just as good as ems if not better.

  • This is ALBUM OF THE YEAR MATERIAL! I LOVE GETTING EAR RAPED!

  • Aha this is dwayne carter for yall who dont know i get on here to the blogs about me and i corret people. Alright niggaz the person on here who has more knowledge about me and my life is “RAyy”. Hes on point keep it up RAyy!

  • “Mus0″, Lil Wayne Is The Best Rapper Alive, I Would Love You To Tell Me Who Is Better… And This Album Wasn’t Brilliant But Remember He Did Say Its An “Experimental Album”

  • Aint no one cn touch wayne. Wtf weezy tlkd good bout me thts was up.

  • @YOUNG PEPSI – “ear raped” – couldn’t have said it better myself. Apparently our definition of rape is completely different, however.

  • I liked lil waynes other albums but man, this album sucks. Why should I listen to this pathetic attempt at rock when I can listen to some actual rock bands that know what they’re doing. There are very very few artists in history who have attempted to cover multiple genres of music and even less that have done it half well. Please make your next album rap and I won’t download it for free like I did this one.

  • “Eminem Murdered You On Your Own Shit….” That Track With Em Just Showed That Wayne Will Never Be in The Same Cailber As Em.

    Speaking Of Emcees….

Wayne Will NEVER Be The Best Rapper, lmao. Hell Will Freeze Over When that happens. He’s not even in the Top 20. Let Him Get At Nas, Jay, Lupe, Blu, Mos Def, Common, Lol List Goes On….Disrespectful to Real Emcees Actually Puttin In work. I respect Weezy’s ethic but damn.

I guess Somebody has to Be Crowned Captain When The Ship’s Sinking. Fuckin Kids today..

  • Em would be Perfect on a Rock Album He has much Anger in his voice not like wayne

  • Wayne Will NEVER Be The Best Rapper, lmao. Hell Will Freeze Over When that happens. He’s not even in the Top 20. Let Him Get At Nas, Jay, Lupe, Blu, Mos Def, Common, Lol List Goes On….Disrespectful to Real Emcees Actually Puttin In work. I respect Weezy’s ethic but damn

Bullshit u cant take away his skills from him

  • Fukk stewiie tht niqqa is stuck on old skool rap! Earth ta stewie shitz changed niqqa it aint tha 80′s nd 90′s so get off hiis shiit yo. No one aint even close to hiim. Tell me who is doiin their thiing more thn hiim??? Aint no one yo so y hate jay z is garbage now nas is to spirital nd he off now nd lupe?? He good but not ne where close ta wayne! No ceilings is one of tha best albums i heard in a long tiime! So y dnot yu actually kno about hiim b4 yu runn yur mouth!
    Soooo
    Best Rapper Alive— Lil Wayne.

  • Nd most of tha stuff i saiid wasnt all to stewie it was mainy to Mr. XfagX

  • lil wayne is a g, i feel his music…but this album is a disgrace n im worried we aint gna get the ‘carter’ back

  • Deanz hav yu heard no ceilings? Iif not listen to iit itz the best of tha carter. Nd iit juz recently came out thn tha new yungmoney album is coming out tomorrow nd itz gonna b a good one too.

  • This album is hot, after three listens its actually not a real rock album but it pushes the boundaries of rap and that is what Wayne does well.

  • these sure aren’t the normal culturebully followers….

  • oh my god. I just downloaded this to see what the fuss was about, thinking it couldn’t any worse than the other garbage out there. In the first thirty seconds these were my thoughts : Hmmm…….nice little guitar lick…..okay bass is coming in…….oh dear god ………oh dear god NOOOOOOOOOOO. Then I chucked my headphones to the ground.

To sum up for Rayy and all the other fans, Ths lbm s trrbbl.

  • If you are avid rock music listener this is not the album for you. This is more like rock-lite, rock generic. But if you are a hardcore hip-hop fan and you’re interested to hear what a real hip-hop/rock hybrid album would be like, then you might enjoy this album. When I say hip-hop/rock hybrid album I dont mean stuff like Limp Bizkit, Gorillaz, and the like, because that is not hardcore hip-hop. But here you have a real hip-hop artist trying his hand at what he perceives to be rock. Yes, he is wrong for calling it a rock album, its more like hip-hop with guitars. But his perception of what rock is, is not what the avid rock listeners’ perception of rock is. But I’m seeing a lot of inner city rap based youth feeling this album and if Wayne fans in general like it, its gonna sell bottom line.

  • Im a big wayne fan but i honestly thought this was going to be a joke…ive listened to the album twice now and its growing on me…there is only one song where i cant bear to listen to but the others i like…i dont know what it is but its something different and i think thats what has enticed me to this…..this review was crap!

  • honestly… if you like good music don’t trust this review. I read this review before i heard the album and was skeptical about it, but after i listened to it i have to admit its decent. I agree with Giz Lil Wayne is wrong for calling this a rock album and he mislead a lot of ppl because of this disappointing both hip hop and rock fans, the album is more like rap-rock, or just rap with guitars and drum sounds and more singing. But its actually well done, not bad at all, its not the same lil wayne as the carter 2, or dedication 2, or no ceilings, but the music is surprisingly well done in this album, so its good music, stop hating

  • wezzy iz tha best rapper….but i must say tha rock album im really dissapointed….ugh! ive waited sooo long for this cd

  • this is the worst review ever.
the rebirth was not the best album ever but there were a handful of good and bad songs. he gave it a try lets see what happens. there were a few songs that he produced that ended up being great hits.
hes got balls. and he does not give a sh1t what you think so he will do as he pleases. and i love it.

  • This album is growing on me ever since i d/l’d…….. i dont really know what it is but im feeling the style.. Some of the songs are awful and there is much room for improvement but there are a couple songs that i really like on this album… Coming from a rap and rock fan

Knockout starts off with a mediocre Wayne verse but is a sick song by the end… Nicki Minaj is surprisingly very good on this, shes a better singer than rapper. She surprisingly killed this song (in a good way)

Runnin’ = very good song, really like it

Drop the World ft. Eminem – solid song, Eminem’s verse carries it

On Fire = dope song that will grow on you

One Way Trip is solid, as well as Ground Zero, and Prom Queen and American Star are average

The rest of the songs suck.. Its not a cohesive album but there are a good 7 or 8 songs on here that are a dope change of style

  • I get Blowed…and this album gets me even more blowed. To those with negative reviews….don’t expect this to be a Brand New album or RHCP, this is a rapper tryin stuff out…and to that he does well….

  • My thoughts have always been mixed about lil’ wayne, it actually kinda annoyed me that he released so many mixtapes and songs… I always thought there was little thought in his music and a strong use of mouth noises over actual substance. Then, tha carter 3 was released and my perception of wayne changed, I thought it was a well put together album, it had clever puns and was an overall joy to listen. After watching the carter documentary I really started to get what lil wayne was about, all he does is record all day, smoke weed, and drink purple. I started to understand that he is more focused on making music than making great music all the time. Mixtapes are just a sample of what wayne can do, and after understanding that I had more respect for his art. Which is why I was excited about the release of this new album, unfortunately it hurts my ears to listen to it. Really… I get a headache. I didn’t expect the music to be great – it’s not. It’s not rock music, it’s not hip-hop, it is shitty guitar riffs. I can’t say I thought I was going to be blown away, but the thing that really annoys me is that the lyrics are awful. Awful. And the noises that always seemed like a way to cop out of saying meaningful… are everywhere. I know this has been said, but the feeling I got listening to this was the same feeling I got listening to limp biscuit for the first time. I’m not quite sure the words to describe that feeling but it was something like embarrassment. I’m certain that if this record was the first time the world heard lil’ wayne it would also be the last. I think the review was unfortunately accurate.

  • Rayy is a fag, just pointing that out real quick. The album is crap even it was just to “ghet” money he will lose more because no one will buy this shit. Now I’m gonna think about buying his other albums when they come out too.

  • you cant hate, this shit goes hard…..and for all you saying he is falling off are you retarded…did you not hear of an album called no ceilings lol…..ignorant ass people…just because he dosent do what “YOU” want doesnt make it garbage…A+++

  • LMAO at the Wayne Dickriders. (Especially Rayy, lmao Scary Movie Faggot) No Ceilings Was a mixtape you dickheads. And it was Average at best. Lupe’s Enemy Of The State> No Ceilings Bottom Line. Ill Admit I Was a fan Of Wayne when He First got Some Lyrics, but then He Went Whitney Houston and smoked his Talent away. Carter 3 is Trash. Carter 2 was his best Album.

And Ray, and every other wayne Dickrider, Just because Your On every Track Does Not Mean Shit other than you can make The Arabs Money. If all your Concerned about is Numbers and “who’s Hot”, then Jay-Z Takes the Crown Hands Down. 11 Number one Albums, Over 10 Million Records Sold Worldwide, and he’s Still In the Game after 15-20 years.

There’s a Reason Why Wayne APOLOGIZED to Jay-Z after he Dissed Him. He knew his career would have Been Over Had He Not. You Kids Do ya Research. Nas Has Gone Platinum more Times Than Wayne, and he isn’t even That popular.

Cmon man, make this a fair arguement…

  • Enemy Of The State> No Ceilings Bottom Line.

  • I WAS ABLE TO GET THE ALBUM EARLY JUST LIKE THE REST OF YALL AND TO TELL YOU THE TRUTH IT IS A BAD ALBUM BUT NOT CRAZY FUCKIN TERRIBLE YOU GOTTA GIVE THIS NIGGA CREDIT FOR ATTEMPTING A ROCK ALBUM….

    BEST SONG TO ME CONSIDERING…

    ONE WAY TRIP

    DROP THE WORLD

    ON FIRE

RUNNIN (EVEN THO THE CHICK TAKES OVER THE SONG) IT IS A GOOD SONG AND THE HOMEBOY PLAYS THE GUITAR IN THE SONG AND TO ME HES GOOD FOR A NIGGA SHIT

SPECIALLY SINCE MOST BLACK PEOPLE ESPECIALLY ARTIST CAN ONLY USE A DAMN BEAT MACHINE…VERY FEW KNOW HOW TO ACTUALLY PLAY AN INSTRUMENT.

BUT YEA ONE OF HIS WORST ALBUMS BUT STILL PRETTY GOOD.

  • HA YUP THOSE MIXTAPES ARE SOME SERIOUS FIRE BUT ENEMY OF THE STATE NEEDS ALIL MORE SONGS LIKE (NATIONAL ANTHEM)

  • lololololol @ everyone posting here.

I guess you guys found a bunch of new fans Culture Bully :)

  • ummm whoevr did this review can go suck a dick and die lil wayne did this album its striaght fire one of his best albums to date..fuck wt a hater thnkk

  • I thought this album was very good, there was 1 or 2 bad songs… but other then that i loved the album. I liked this album more the ‘Tha Carter III’

  • Yo the album is great. wayne knowa what he is doing. thats way its getting pushed back.its really good really good. people are talking now.its not a rap rock album its rock rap.

  • I like Wayne, but why does he sound like he is just waking up half the time? Like that lazy noise he makes.

I wish he could go back to Tha Carter I. Then again, nothing is as good as your first…

  • Are you fucking crazy? Theres 2 bad tracks on Rebirth, the rest is dope as fuck, whoever wrote this needs to be shot

  • ALLL YALLL NIGGAASS GAYY!! THIS ALBUM IS DOPE N YOU CAN ALL SUCK MY BALL SACK AND CALL ME DADDDY!

  • Wayne is Wayne may be a lill to deep, for most of you who do not understand
Repetition is the key to success.

  • shit.. i think he’s an inovator, this is an experiment.. u liked lil wayne before, u should like him now 2 > LOVE : x

  • All you wound up white boys need to grab a blunt, get high, sit back and listen to it again.

Wayne stepped on rap and is prob bored of it. Moving on to new music.

  • I listened 2 it and i luv how he combines rap and rock,
I disagree its a bad album,
I liked it and i thought runnin was dope,
Check it out yhu guys who talking trash who neva heard it

  • i am a huge wayne fan but this is a terrible album he should stick to what he does best. leave rock to the rock stars!

  • Lmao At Wayne Being “Deep”

If you Have to be on drugs to Listen to the music, then the music Is Not Good.

Lmao Fail. This whole thing is Fail.

  • People just don’t like change and if it’s something new then it scares the crap out of them. If you are a true lil wayne fan then you will support him through whatever experimental phase he goes through. You also have to have an appreciation for all music and everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

  • this album was such a let down, waited all year for some new wayne material and he releases this……so shitty

  • to all the people that think he shreds the guitar, you guys are friggin stupid, and there is proof. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_tHnVKYVb-I&feature=related

  • I’ve gone through most of the songs now, and yeah it’s not good. But I gotta say ‘Runnin feat. Shanell’ has a nice ring to it. Nice flow too.

I dunno, this review is certainly not cutting much slack. I’m gonna have to listen through it a few times and see if it’s got anything to offer.

  • im not a rock fan but i do like weezy, the album delivers what it says, a rock album. a few verses are hard as expected from weezy, but not really anything to jump about, drop the world is hot though. i think some of the reviews are a bit harsh tbh but each to their own.

  • I really dont know whats more sad… That Lil wayne really wasted a bunch of pretty solid productions or that people actualy like his vocals?? I really dont know… Or is it maybe more worse that people actualy thing this “abortion” is equal to Carter 3 or Carter 2?

Jesus, people… get some rock CD’s and actualy listen to ROCK MUSIC….this was below average as long as we talk about his voice…brrrr…

  • great album. stop hating

  • I remember when hip hop was real this shit

  • I’m not a big fan of Lil Wayne but there are a few tracks in the past that I have enjoyed a little. So with that said I’ve listen to most of the tracks on the album and overall I’d rate the album 6/10. Its decent at best, this is based on production quality, lyrics, vocal ability etc. And some advice for all you aspiring rappers, musicians etc. PLEASE RETIRE THE FRIGGIN AUTOTUNE EFFECT!

  • nice try, but no.

  • When talk about Lil Wayne what genre of music do you think he sing’s?
    Hip-Hop-Rap of course.

Now imagine if a RAPPER made a rock album…..u will buy just to see what garbage it is…..

Dont matter if its the worst or the greatest….people will buy cuz no rapper has ever made a rock album….lil wayne still getting $$$ while we are in here arguing about if is good or not.

Still—Best music in the album Drop The World well and Revolver(bonus track) has a decent beat.

  • cmon now lil wayne is a horrible rapper. his freestyles are really lame wanna hear a real freestyle why dont you look up mo city don by Zro on youtube. lil wayne is a studio gangsta.

  • EVERYONE IS JUST JUMPING ON THE BANDWAGON. A FEW PEOPLE WHO DIDNT LIKE WAYNE SAID IT WAS BAD AND NOW EVERYONE THINKS REBIRTH IS TERRIBLE…

    BULLSHIT!

GIVE THE ALBUM A CHANCE. JUST BECAUSE LIL WAYNES CROSSING GENRES DOESNT MEAN ITS THE MEDIAS CHANCE TO RIP ON HIM.

AND BTW, LIL WAYNE AND HIS MILLIONS OF FANS DONT GIVE A SHIT WHAT THE MEDIA AND HATERS THINK.

    WEEZY FOR LIFE.

  • Its funny how he didnt say anything about songs like: Runnin, Paradice, One Way Trip, On Fire, Im So Over You, and Die For You. So go listen to some of those songs and try and say this was a terrible album, unless your like this guy and listened to 6 songs of the album and judged it.

  • first of all, to all yall dumb a’s that keep saying this album suck, this shit is fire!! yall people must not know good music when you hear it!! this album is good!! its not crap. personally i wanted to beat the shit out of who ever wrote this shit but on some real shit this album is not bad.. i mean, theres only like 2 songs on this album that aint that good but the rest is hot!! this shit is to deep for yall nay sayers!! yall talk that ying yang shit but yall dont know what the hell yall talking about!!! i love this album!!! wayne is to deep for yall.. you need to sit back and just listen to the shidd again!! this album is nothing like a mixtape, he shows his lyricalbility on this shit.. lil wayne is a fucking beast and i give this fucking album a 10 out of 10 bitch!! and im not on wayne dick!! i just know music when i hear it!! “drop the world, paradice, on fire, prom queen, american star, ground zero, runnin” all them shits is fire!! and thats over half the album!! so with that said fuck yall!! and get off dwayne carter’s dick!!!

  • let my nigga wayne balls breath!! ha ha

  • **** you know what i don’t understand when ppl say “he’s not the best” or “he’ll never be in the same breath as so and so” … His own peers acknowledge that he’s nice on the mic… his own peers want to songs with him.. His own peers give him respect… I know he calls him self the best and all of the above but if you don’t agree then bump it and move on lol.. i mean don’t ish a cow lol… I never seen someone get such love and admiration and at the same time so much hate…or how much they despise him (wayne). Even 50 wouldn’t out right say that he’d murder wayne lol i mean how do you call ur self the best rapper alive… and nobody in your craft/industry/place of work etc. doesn’t dis agree with you???? Logic ppl…

  • but i agree with some… the album is “naahhhhhh” the other was illmatic… lol thats an inside Hip-hopper joke… lolz… seriously, the album was subpar

  • “that’s a one hot album every 10 year average and that’s so LAAAAAAAAAME”

  • Wayne sucked in my opinion as a record when he first started rapping then he slowly became my favorite rapper over time so i would imagine he will suck as a rockstar with his first album

  • lil wayne album was great. this is what it takes to be on top to have an open mind on music. I RAP MYSELF AND IM PEAKING RIGHT NOW AND I HAVE THE SAME IDEAS TO BE OPEN MINDED WHEN I CREATE SOME MATERIAL. I THINK THE ALBUM WAS GREAT AND HE HELD IT DOWN FOR THE HOOD WHILE HE MADE ROCK N ROLL HIS OWN. TO BE GREAT YOU CANT BE AFRAID TO FAIL AND THIS ALBUM WAS HIS LEAP TO GREATNESS. NOW CANT WAIT UNTIL CARTER 4 COME OUT! THE REBIRTH IS A HIT HE WILL SALE MILLIONS.

  • HIPPIE IM FROM H-TOWN I KNOW ABOUT RO YOU TRYING TO COMPARE APPLES TO ORENGES Z-RO HAS GREAT LYRICS, BUT HIM AND LIL WAYNE RAP ABOUT DIFFERNT THINGS. AND EVEN RO RESPECT WHAT WAYNE IS DOING WHO WOULDNT IF THE GUY SOLD 1.5 MILLION IN A WEEK. BY THE WAYNE HE OUT SOLD JAY Z LAST ALBUM BLUEPRINT 3, WHICH WASNT ONE OF JIGGAS BEST. I THINK THE REBIRTH WILL DO BETTER THAN THAT ALBUM 2. JUST ENJOY MUSIC BECAUSE Y YOU HATING ON HIM HE STILL COLLECTING MONEY. LIKE KAT WILLIAMS SAY I LOVE HATERS BECAUSE THERE HERE TO DO THEY MOTHERFUCKING JOB, IN THIS LIFE YOU WANT TO HAVE MORE HATERS EVERYDAY BECAUSE YOU DOING SOMTHING RIGHT. THE INDUSTRY IS TOUGH I KNOW AND HARD TO GET INTO SO FOR WAYNE BEING IN THE GAME SINCE HE WAS 12 HE HAVE TO BE GOOD. YALL MOTHERFUCKERS MUST GOT SELF-ESTEAM ISSUE YOU SUPPOSE TO THINK YOU THE BEST AT YOUR KRAFT IT MAKES YOUR MUSIC MORE RAW AND BRING THE BEST DELIVERY TO YOU FLOW. YOU GUYS PROBABLY HATED ON PAC POEMS WHICH WAS FIRE AND FAR FROM WHAT PAC WROTE AND HE IS THE GREATEST TO DO IT. THE SOUTH IS BACK AND IF YOU DONT LIKE IT SUCK ON A PISTOL!

  • “Rebirth” is a terrible album……Lil Wayne should just keep to rappin. I don’t think he sould of come out with this album. i’m still stuck on listening to “No Ceilings”

  • THIS SHIT SUX THE BEST PART IS LETS JUMP OUT A WINDOW BABY LETS JUMP OFF A BUILDING THATS THE ONLY 2 LINES I LIKE IN THE WHOLE SONG AND HE KINDOF STOLE THAT MELODY FROM TLC BACK IN THE DAY!

  • WHACK ASS ALBUM PERIOD AND WAYNE IS GETTIN OLD WHO GIVES A FUCK ANY MORE YOU WANT SOME REAL ROCK LISTEN 2 THE RED HOT CHILLI PEPPERS YADIG IM OUT!

  • First this blog is hilarious to read from top to bottom some of the things some people said. But why is everybody here either suckin waynes dick or totally hatin on him? Personally Ive always loved waynes music. Him and eminem take up half my iPod. So u gotta give him props for trying the whole rock thing. Do I think it worked great? No. Why do u think he took so damn look to release it? It be scared to death to to try something like that. I just don’t get the timing of it. It wasn’t the best album… to say the least (has a few good tracks tho) and now he’s going to jail for awhile. I’d think ud wanna release something great that u knows gonna be a huge success and keep ya on the map for awhile before ya fall off for awhile but he just hurt himsf more. This could normally kill a career… I think one thing we all agree tho is this. Lil waynes gonna bounce back great and release the best album of his life with tha Carter IIII.

  • ok so yeah not all that great of an album but if lil wayne wants to do it then go for it and just to point it out… its the top album on itunes despite the fact you may not like it its selling

  • I wish you people who say you don’t like it would simply listen through the whole album. You don’t like it because it’s so vastly different than his usual. However, once you listen to it through at least once you will really enjoy it. I’ve already listened through it 4 times and I can’t get enough.

  • MAN, YALL JUST SOME DUMB ASS SUCKERS!! KICK ROCKS THIS FUCKING ALBUM IS HOT!! FUCKING FOOLS.. LIKE MY DUDE CHAD SAID, YALL JUST AINT USE TO THIS KIND OF MUSIC COMING FROM WAYNE, YALL STUCK ON THAT NO CEILINGS MIXTAPE TYPE OF SHIT!! GET A FUCKING LIFE, THIS IS NOT A MIXTAPE THIS IS AN ALBUM, YOU DONT SUPPOSE TO THROW PUNCHLINES AND SAY CRAZY SHIT ON AN ALBUM!! YALL JUST SHITTY, LIKE I SAID BEFORE, GET THE FUCK, I MEAN BOUNCE THE FUCK OFF WAYNE’S PENIS!!!! STR8 LKE THAT!

  • If u like da music from REBIRTH listen to it .. if u don’t go listen to some other shittt .. y da hell do u waste time posting some crap off webpages …
Rebirth is for real .. it just matters if u like it or not ..
So stop messing around lil wayne’s name and go do something better …

  • TO all the Haters and the Lovers “Lil Wayne is the Best” …

  • just like someone said, this album pushes the boundaries of rap which is what wayne does best. i would love to see any of yall haters come out with a better album rock or rap so stfu

  • ok so.. whoever gave this album review doesnt know anything about good music. i judge an artists’ material on what direction that artist wanted to go and how vivid they were able to have it come across.. and i feel that wayne did that very well… it also doesnt help listening to it if you cant relate to what hes talking about. im one of maybe the very few who was able to listen to the album and do that. every song on the album was dope ground zero was a little too heavy (i was high off kush) but other then that every song was pretty dope. give or take maybe 2 songs if you wanna be petty but in my opinion this effort from wayne was far from a miss and it’ll be a slept-on album at most. one of the “808s and heartbreaks” “speakerboxxx/love below” “universal mind control” but thats a cool thing bcuz those are albums that werent for the masses those records had specific purposes and if you dont understand em then you just dont the rebirth is over alot ppls heads real talk not even tryna sound corny..

  • AND- was it JUST me or did wayne deliberately be like.. f*** jay-z and did the entire intro in autotune feel me. like..” ok jay-z say d.o.a thats cool but check me out..” and went in lol thats my dude from the beginnin no dick ridin but he need to chill on the comparisons to Jesus Christ that part of everything b tweakin me but aiight ima fuck wit yall!!! open up your mind and quit hatin on things you cant understand!!!!

  • It is crap. I’ve made myself listen to the whole album and can’t make anything else from it. There are a few kinda nice pieces in it (and all of them are not song/rapped by lil wayne). I’m talking about the refrain or runnin’ by Shanell and the piece of eminem in Drop the World. About all the rest is crap, nothing else. He doesn’t sing, he uses an autotune, but still even 808′s and heartbreaks’s 20x better, because it still sounds like crap, with or without autotune. Then most of the ‘music’ is a wall of sound made by so many different drums/beats/guitars I can’t pick a melody out of it. Only the beat of Drop the World is pretty sick. I’m a fan of weezy, I’m really waiting for tha Carter IV because this album really let me down.

  • Wu-Tang! Protect ya fuckin’ neck! Respect to the Gods.

The album, horrible. Every track on this album, horrible. Waisted my time listening to that shit. This only comes to show that lil wayne is a terrible artist who puts no thought into his music. Once hes gone, the next pop icon will shit on what he has done unless he starts making decent music.

  • There’s a difference between criticism and hating. This is an honest review. Rebirth is honestly a very very very bad album.

  • Why is it that just because you don’t like the album or Wayne you are considered to be hating? You lames need to learn the definition of hating. I personally don’t like wayne and haven’t since that one album he put out after Katrina. Ya’ll truly are dick riders and will eat anything lil wayne puts out like pancakes. He could be talking about eating shit and fucking horses and yall still would think he’s tight. Please learn real music and real rap before you swang on his nuts!!! Thank you.

  • “KCcelebritee”, go suck on a rock!! because aint nobody on wayne nuts. i just can relate to the music he puts out!! you fucking jerk!! , and what album after katrina?? what the hell are you talking about?

  • I would agree 100% with this review and think this album and Lil WeeZy have been in trouble since he stopped using his ghostwriter around The Carter which was hot and stopped working with Mannie Fresh. Wayne lost his best two aspects and started trying to play guitar and sing two things we know he can’t do, he should stick to smoking blunts and freestyling about how he’s higher then the atmosphere on a fucking spaceship.
    peace

  • someone earlier said that eminem owns the track drop the world your a dipshit wayne makes that whole song mad heart in it em isnt even that good in it so suck dick

  • Yes, he is the best rapper, he reached a limit and got bored . It won’t make a difference to him or his career whether you guys hate on him or not . He is growing as a person learning an instrument, and is not closed minded about any music or oddity of this planet… or another . If you did not like his new album, cool . Your part is done and you do not have to listen to it or buy any future rock albums of his . The album has alot of tracks that are out of the ordinary, some I liked better than others, some I liked alot and think they will catch on once they get radio play just like most of his songs . But the botton line is, music is an art form, you do yours, and everyone else will do theirs uniquely . Lil Wayne is not only at the top of the rap game, but he is trying to spread his wings and grow, and create new music . Sounds to me like everyone wants to have something bad to say because so many people like him… awesome you are a cool person, who is different and hates lil wayne, go ahead and try to convince others, I’m sure you will feel much better about yourself . I am a lil wayne fan because of the way I decode him and his music, and that is what a fan is. Peace

  • Rebirth is a fantastic album. I am a huge fan of Lil Waynes work, i mean i have over 200 tracks of his on my itunes. And i managed to get this album early. It is a fantastic album, and i don’t see how you people can say its ‘terrible’. For a rapper to be able to be so versatile is amazing. This album has only made me a bigger fan of Lil Wayne, and i see no reason why this album can’t be successful and attract more fans.

  • trash review, i hated it at start, but it takes quite a while to learn to like the songs

  • Lil Wayne is a cold rapper. but he really disgraced the rock nation. I meen rock is not taking rock chords n riffs and rapping over it. That knockout song was such a bad rendition of Paramore type music. Nikki Minaj sounded good singing but when she rapped talkin bout p***y and chanting 1,2,3. like wow, u js basically rappin on a rock beat. The only songs that were good was prom queen (which Shanell wrote for him), runnin wit Shanell on it and Drop The World wit my fav rapper eminem.

This album pissed me off because u got all of these aspiring rock groups and well known rock groups who puttin in work, they not gettin played because ppl are riding this garbage. ppl will have they on opinion but its still a fact that this is the worst album by wayne ever.

I dont envy wayne for tryin sunthin new, but he could at least got together wit fall out boy again or sum rockers who can really spice up da album. but looka T.I., do u really wanna leave the game with a suckesh album? no thats why Paper Trail went in a different route (non-gangster) than his other albums and actually did better (to me at least)

trust me i’m an aspiring rapper but i also kno what it really takes to be a rocker.

  • oh n dont get me started on that “On Fire” Song, i loved da joint off Scarface but Wayne’s? yo, the beat was sooooo killer but what he did to the song was a massacre. he shouldda dropped the bootleg rock swag, and jus went Weezy on that beat.

oh n why baby got a big ass star on his dome?

  • ReBIRTH AND LEAVE EARTH MOTHERFUCKERS!!! AND THIS ALBUM IS ON FIRE!!! other songs that are good look out, lethal injection, Spit in your face SHIT hits HARD!

  • Hottest song is ON FIRE!! That’s cause it sounds like a rap song!!! Dope beat too!! Other than that and eminem on the #8 track, this album is WHHHHAAACK!!!

  • exactly feezy, which is y i said he shouldda jus went weezy on dis beat.

the fact still remains that Wayne is gettin props from deez ppl cuz of dis sorry rock album when real rockers are makin tremendously tight rock singles

  • The album is actually pretty dope if you listen to both rap and rock on a regular basis. However, if you are mostly into rap I can see why you wouldn’t like this.

  • Get a life was garbage though. Lol.

  • Honestly Everyone has their own opinions about this album, each statement here is subjective to that person. The thing is, is that people automatically believe that what they believe is right, if you think that way, then you are dichotomous as hell!!!! I agree with some people that say it is bad and that it is good. Just like any album, there are both good and bad tracks. I personally don’t like the tracks like “get a life,” but i really do like the tracks like “On fire”, but thats my opinion, its a subjective perspective on things. So really, anyone is entitled to their own opinion about this album. So arguing with each other on who is right is an infinitely looping argument. Basically the disagreements from both sides need to be respected, or else the continuous conflict about it is redundant thus making you stupid, no disrespect to anyone though. Just giving my perspectives on things.

  • I just bought Rebirth last night and love the track Running…I think the guitar is awesome on his tracks and its awesome that he can not only hip hop it out but can ROCK it out as well..Go Wayne I digs!!!

  • Oh and On Fire is awesome too!! I love it!

  • Look, you guys shouldn’t be criticizing such a talented artist.
He makes great music. Nobody can deny that.
And all of these nasty comments aren’t towards the product, you people just have a problem with the creator.
I suggest that if you want to bitch about the music you hear, get your ass in the studio and try to do what Lil’ Wayne does.

  • Wayne is categorized with the best rappers but everyone’s opinion is different. Nobody will ever be “the best rapper alive”. Wayne is musically gifted he definitely wrote the album because he wanted to. He OWNS his own label. Based off being successful, he’s at the pinnacle. He clearly makes more money than any other rapper out there and that’s where he messed up. This cd is terrible bc he thinks since everyone likes him and he’s such an influential person in the rap game that he can change up the styles. Either that or he’s on some badass drugs.

  • Let me tell you, rebirth is an awesome album!
I’ll admit it, after when I first listened to it, I was so dissapointed and thought it was complete shit!
    BUT..
After listening it a few more times and listening to it properly, it’s a great album!
How the fuck can you review a album from listening to a 5 sec sample of each song.
I think everyone had such high expectations after the success of Tha Carter 3 but noway is rebirth as bad as you’ll all making it up to be!
I actually think lil Wayne deserves a lot of credit for experimenting! Not many artists are brave enough to bring out an album which is totally different from his old stuff.

  • well i listened to this album and to be honest its not what youd expect from wayne. on fire and drop the world were the only songs that were good. he really should have thought about it before making this album.

  • I must say I’m blown away by Rayys ignorance. If you consider awkward thumb-thumping on the high E string “playing guitar,” then I would love to see what you think of Yngwie Malmsteen. Young Money/Cash Money did NOT want Lil Wayne to release this album. And now I believe those with moderate intelligence can tell why. I give credit to Lil Wayne for trying something different. He’s singlehandedly choke slammed the rap/hip hop scene, why not try something else? Lil Wayne’s problem is he had very little to do with this CD. You can tell if you listen closely. Every song sounds like it came from a different artists album. It’s a spiraling misdirected mess. I can listen to about a quarter of the album before considering jumping in front of a head-on bulldozer collision.

I’ll always support Lil Wayne. I find him to be fascinating and highly entertaining. Just because Lil Wayne dropped one sub-par album, we shouldn’t assuage his obvious talent. Thanks for trying, Weezy. But until you can understand how rock music is supposed to be written and flow, stay away from that guitar.

  • Also, good comment Ben. I agree wholeheartedly. And Weezy IS on some badass drugs.

  • hey ummmm lil wayne is the best so i dont know wat that person is tawking bout you need to get your mind rite bra………… I love lil wayne

MAN, YALL JUST SOME DUMB ASS SUCKERS!! STR8 LKE THAT!

and people wonder why rap gets such a bad rap…………STR8 LKE THAT!

man i wish i could be as cool as you! if you only knew how ignorant your statement was you’d go back and delete……….but then again you’re not that smart obviously.

  • Man you guys are idiots. I’m a metal head, and i liked this. I mean shit i bought it for drop the world, thought the rest was gonna b shit. All you who are calling this album crap need to learn to step out of your fucking safety bubbles and expand your horizons. Just cause this isn’t classic Wayne doesn’t mean you have to fucking shoot him down for it. I couldn’t stand Wayne before i bought this, and now Ive actually gone back and listened to some of his other stuff, and it isn’t that bad. So stop being little bitches and accept change.

  • Wow this is the worst review I have ever read on any website what the fuck is wrong with you people the album is kick fucking ass. You guys just proaably arn’t into rock So your being stupid and saying that it sucks!!! You guys are realllllllly gay.

  • Tottaly agree with you hare

  • Wayne always been garbage, even as a rapper. Ice-T’s venture into Rock was far superior. These new rappers just fuckin’ bite what old rappers already done. This is why hip hop is dead. I would love to see Weezy get into the lyrical ring with ghost face killah or Canibus

  • You people wouldn’t know good music if it buggered you in the arse without so much as a reach around. Lil’ Wayne’s Rebirth is an extraordinary mashup of guitar-driven rock and hip-hop combined with the man’s signature sardonic wit. The fact that he can’t carry a tune in a bag just goes to show you how talented he is as a performer. His lyrics are bold without being boorish, unlike most so-called rappers, and he delivers every line with genuine enthusiasm. He enjoys what he does and it shows. That can’t be said for a lot of musicians these days.

And for the record, that’s not a vocoder, that’s Autotune altering his voice on many of the tracks. (Like I said, the man lacks natural vocal range.)But that’s not unusual. Nearly every singer uses Autotune in the recording studio AND during concerts. If the technology is there, use it.

  • Lil wayne sucks(period), he’s no wheres near getting best rapper alive, he moved to the rock genre to avoid getting lyrically beat on by everyone in the rap game…

Do the rap game and its future a favor, fall off!.

cant rap, cant sing, no flow, his rap/talk lines are fkn pathetic and childish, just search up his lyrics,, or YouTube some freestyles…. fake ugly bish.

also who the F is “willy the squid” Wayne????

  • Would actually have been a good album except he clearly rushed the production and somehow in the process of incorporating rock into his music he skipped on lyrics. So it’s just hip hop with no theme or nothing to say, mixed with rushed rock music that when was made not alot of time went into it but many of the melodys had potential, actually this whole album had alot of potential but he clearly rushed it and skipped on his rhymes and if he put more time into it he could have had one of the best albums of 2010. and this is comming from someone who never liked lil wayne.

  • lil wayne is the only rapper i listen too anymore he is the best rapper. i like the song “drop on the world” and the “prom queen” these are the only songs i listen to anymore. this album i like so who ever does not like lil wayne then you should be gone.

  • Lil Wayne Rebirth is a wack ass album and he is not the best rapper aliv e yall need to hear my nigga Z-RO he is the best rapper alive.

  • I didn’t read any reviews for the album just purchased and listened, its a great album and Lil Wayne said a lot on it. Props to him for having the testicular fotitude to bring gaps in the music world. He did a great job of fusing two genres together. Don’t be so quick to dismiss because this album was “experimental”. The album is phenomonal.

  • this album is bad. the only good songs are drop the world (which by the way i like waynes part way better than eminem’s) and the song paradice is pretty cool too. other than those two songs its pretty much trash. he needs to get back to where he was when he wrote tha carter 3

  • This is the best rock cd in ten years. Reviewer is yet another writer with nothing to say. The cd will sell and sell and sell as rock fans spread the word.

  • If you really LISTEN to the album! you would know the meaning of REBIRTH!! Hes born again! Waynes tellin us somethin!

    Killuminati!!

  • I wouldn’t doubt it, there is hidden meaning behind a lot of song nowadayz…

  • At first I got the album went through each track and though this is R*****H !! But then I heard On Fire on the radio and I was like I need to check this out again, I’m glad i did. For a guy who loves hiphop. I just love the sound its totally different ! I know a lot of music critics have criticised it but maybe because their are looking for a full rock sound, I think what wayne’s tried to do is combine hiphop, pop and rock to create like a superalbum ! Ok the autotune sounds a bit funny at times but you cannot deny the beats as always with Wayne pure fire !!

  • This song is terrific. Em just puts a finishing touch on this song. Its hot

  • well, I listen to everything. literally. & this reveiw is sh*t. there are a few bad songs. but it wasn’t THAT bad.
I mean waynes just tryin something new. you can’t blame him for wanting to try something different for once.
I actually first heard the cd with my friend, & I liked it & bought it myself. its not bad, & deff not the worst I’ve heard.
this review only focused on all the negatives, so ill say this reveiw sucks. badly.

  • Rebirth is probably the worst attempt at the rock-rap crossover I’ve ever heard…I feel like Lil Wayne appreciates rock music (thus, the feeble guitar-learning, rockstar push) but first, he can’t sing to save his life (kind of like a Eminem-Hailey’s Song deal) where it comes off as slightly pathetic. I think Lil Wayne should stick to the rapping. Michael Jordan was a basketball player, Lil Wayne’s a rapper. lol.

  • i like Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park & 311, but this was beyond horrible the only song that was good in my opinion was Drop The World cuz eminem killed that shit!

  • i really love lil wayne…i think he’s a genius… im not a huge fan of the album myself, but i respect the effort and that he’s just doin his thing regardless. shit, if i had the means to record a variety of music i’d do it for sure! for now, rock n roll is my only game. and i think lil wayne’s a hip hop prodigy…but the rock’s kinda weak in the end.

  • been a lil wayne fan for years, it may not be his best but its branching into other genres that may reach more listeners. i like it, its different, but its interesting. all these people saying its bad are just going with whatever other people say, you try making a rock album when you are known for rap. better yet get off your asses and do something quit bitching about someone’s impression of rock or rap

  • I think this review is crap and those who agree should stop posting on it. The author is just getting kicks out of people posting their opinion on something that isn’t even really thought through.

And I agree with hub: it is growing on me. When I first heard it, I had to double check the CD and make sure I had put in Lil’ Wayne because it sounded like some crazy shizzz. Some songs echoed some riffs I heard on old ’90s grunge music and others sounded like my older sister’s ’80′s collection. So yes it is different but it is a good CD.

Those who are too punk to listen to it and open up to something different need not waste their time on listening in on Lil’ Waynes future experiments.

But I love his attempts and the best song on the album has to be Drop the World.

I love all kinds of music, I think Lil’ Wayne did a good job at an attempt to cross over and I like the CD. Not only does it feature some rock but there is slight bit of other genres mixed in there.

Look at the Da Da Da video and rejoice in what is a good artist, Lil’ Wayne.

  • I also find it hilarious at these kids that say they listen to death metal and ‘linkin park’ is on their list of music. LOLFINGL. Grow some chest hair and figure out that all linkin park’s stuff sounds the same and they only had a prime with disregarded hormonal teenagers. At least Lil’ Wayne is changing it up and keeping it fresh. Respect//Props.

  • I did not like the album when I first DL’d it…but after actually listening to it – I LUV IT! The song w/Shanell “Runnin’” is awesome…so is Paradice…and “On Fire”…the beat goes HARD!!! Listen w/an open mind…we will get the Carter IV soon enough…

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAH! this ha almost nothing to do with this article but man I love these dudes that say he is the best rapper alive when he is doing Rock right know. He is basic selling out and all yall wayne dick riders let him. You can’t really give someone the best rapper alive title couse they are knew rapper coming every day. And yall that say Lil wayne is the hardest working rapper alive………LOOK!!! the dude puts music out like many tracks at the time………but he sux at them. Every dude can put material out there and say ”ey I out my whole soul on all those tracks…….but it only gone 1 minute….but you guys can still rock to it” you see that how he does! He is not even the hardest working couse you have to put out good material every fucking time! here is one line from him ”swimming like I was snorkling, swimming like I was a dolpinhe” is that good?is that showing talent? keep in mind he is laughing with that gay voice 20 times in the middle of just those words. And that makes me think of another thing. I know dudes are accepting more random peeps in hip hop but the dude kissed a man….and the excusse is ”he is my daddy” it just says FAKE and GAY all writting on it!!! BUT if you had to give the title and is still putting stuff out there that is NAS!!!!. Some say maybe Jay-z…..I think we all know how that beef gone and who won…cmon. And eminem is basicly saying in his track ” till I collapse”and gave is 1-10 best rappers and Nas was over him and he is right. People plz just we trying to keep Hip Hop alive more than 50 yearsss!! without Em dropping his 2 albums or Nas dropping his ”untitled, and Distan relatives and jay with his BP3” 2008-2010 would be hip hops WORST year even more garbage than 2001!! if you wan’t someone rapping about all this just listen to Joe buddens ”WHO” if you are one of those that listen to lyrics. EVERYTING HE SAYS IS RIGHT THERE…..EVERYTHING!!! and @devon prada you are an idiot!!!

  • ;3 Uh, you basically are all Idiots.
Every fucking person, has their own opinions,
and their own taste In music. So of course, some
people will love It, and some people will hate It.
I personally . . thought It was pretty good. I like quite
a few songs on It. None that are exactly my faaaavorite by him.
But then again, It takes me a while of listening to the same songs
to know If I like them alot or not. One of them could be my favorite by next week.
But so far I think “American star” “Drop the world” “On fire” “Paradice” and “Prom queen”
are the best. Can’t say I’m AS crazy about It as ThaCarter3. But again, I need to listen to It more.
Still seemed like a pretty cool CD, If you ask me~

  • I find it ironic how everyone on my side tar this was a good album cannot spell for shit. That’s one reason so many people hate him, they say his fans are retarded..
I personally liked this album and I feel it has te same quality as ke$ha or any of those other shitty electronic completely computer generated albums. He’s right on track if you ask me. Although, some songs were Rediculously bad… I wish the whe rock album would have sounded like “Let It Rock”. That’s one example that shows he CAN make a rock album… The mainstream sound just got to Weezy.

  • Everybody is entitled their opinion so I respect yours, however, I do not agree that this is his worse album. I personally love Rebirth! I used to like Lil Wayne and had a few CDs and tracks here and there, but Rebirth has made me a FAN. Huge difference. The fact he could innovate and do something so different speaks tons of him as an artist, and maybe even as a person. I give him props and can’t wait to see what’s next for him. I’m actually excited about this career now.

  • fucken rubbish.. he need to stop suckin babys dick. fag fuck boy

  • Are you Serious!? “Knockout” is a great song.. Lots of flops but that track isn’t one of them.

    Below are good=-

    Drop The World
    Knockout
    Ground Zero
    On Fire
    One Way Trip

  • This album is Wayne’s interpretation of Rock. I am a fan of System of a Down,Disturbed and Slipknot as well as groups like Outkast, MJG and Eightball, and T.I. With music, I like what sounds good to my ear, and I like how Rebirth sounds. It took listening to it about twice to really appreciate it, but it did catch my attention the first time. I liked Prom Queen when it was released and hearing Drop the World prompted me to buy the whole album. There’s only one song that doesn’t sound right and that is the last song, The Price is Wrong. The rest of the songs are great lyrically and musically. It’s just a whimsical project that he either didn’t mind doing, or that he decided to do because he knew that it would MAKE MOTHERF!@#ING MONEY!! Which, I’m sure, is the MAIN goal!

  • This review isn’t “trash” as yeaaa111 commented a long time ago. But neither is this album trash. Opinions ARE just like assholes, everybody has one. I’m listening to Da Da Da right now and IT IS ROCKIN’!!

  • ” We so motherf!@#in coo-ler than you” !!!!

  • Anybody like Nikki Minaj’s ” Kill the DJ”? LOVE that song!!

  • “You can act like you don’t like it, but you do, yo do, you do, do do do do..I think I’m gonna kill the motherf!@#in’ DJ, if he don’t let that !@#$!@34 record replay”

  • Yes I’m a stoner………….

  • waynes life is the oxygen i breath if he dies i die
he kills i kill i the greatest fan ever of cash money

  • good review, I actually have respect for lil wayne as an emcee (as I can tell you do too) but this album is absolute trash. Some of the worst music I’ve ever heard, it’s an insult to rock music and music as a whole. stick to rapping weezy.

  • lil wayne is so much better wen hes rappin, the only good songs r on fire, drop the world, and somewhat promqeen, cmon wayne ima huge fan, dont disappoint me.

  • btw i have more then 300 songs on my playlist, love ur music, this album was alright tho

  • u could def do better

  • I WOULD JUST LIKE TO ADD CAN I GET ME DAMN $10.69 BACK….. YES, I SAID IT! I WANT A DAMN REFUND. THIS ALBUM AIN’T SH*T!!!!!! EVEN IF I GOT THIS FREE, I’D STILL WANT A REFUND.. STRAIGHT BULLSH*T, IS WHAT THIS IS IS!!!!!

  • Paradice was the best song…i enjoyed the album, but unlike a lot of people i can put up with his voice and lyrics, but that’s just me.

  • I absolutely loved it. My boyfriend bought it after hearing different reviews and I’m glad he did. Yes, we both listen to rap and rock. I kinda think the title says it all, but I could be wrong, Idk. “Rebirth” like a new side of Lil Wayne. I think maybe it was kind of an experiment? But you can’t hate on someone for trying something different. Try seeing the difference in his music and liking it for what it is rather than disapproving because its not “Lil Wayne.”

  • DAMN I HATE THE FACT THAT PEOPLE ALWAYS FUCKING HATING SHUT THE FUCK UP.

  • You have to smoke and then listen to it. It will all make sense.

  • yah to you who have dissed weezy on this page… this “horrible album” went gold… if u can do better id like to see it

  • it went goldd

  • well personnaly i think REBIRTH is a great album beside some some like get a life ground zero,in the morning, spit on your face, and besides that all the songs where great and fantastic paradice is one of my favs actually cuz i can really relate to it i know some people who just do shit for people to know them and then realize it wasnt right in the first place and then at the end he drops the greatest shit i ever heard then runnin is good but not as good as one way trip runnin only cuts it for me becuz of shannels verse the price is wrong is dope straight up weezy material a couple flaws but a great album P.S. no homo shit or gay stalker i sleep with songs from rebirth on my ipod mixed with no ceilings theyr good songs SO IF YU THINK THE WHOLE ALBUM IS SHIT ITS BECAUSE YOU CANT REALLY SEE WHAT HE MEANS

  • and this is coming from a guy that would piss on any1 who listens to rock, country and gospel so if i say the album is a good rock music and rap its gota atleast be decent or GREAT (i wouldnt actually piss on some1 im not R.kelly

  • For the ones who like Lil’ Wayne’s newest album , “You” must be a real fan of his work . And for the haters well just keep being a hater because that’s not going to stop Lil’ Wayne at all. He does not can’t what the haters think at all! And if their are people who say they like him but still don’t like this album well, oh well he’s trying something new and why can’t he do so . I mean if Kid Rock can change his style and still have fans why can’t Lil’ Wayne try doing a rock album as well ! Lil’ Wayne’s newest album okay well I’ll say it made me a Fan , he grew on me like it or not HATERS . He may gain new fans out of this Album ! He will always be a Rap Star to me , but with just a little Rock mixed into it . Get a life Haters try hating on someone else !

  • I ment Care on the 3rd line not can’t lol.

  • First of all…

Those of you who claim this is the best album you ever heard may be telling the truth. It’s the best album that “YOU” ever heard.
I listen to REAL HIP HOP – Mos Def, Talib, Eminem, Common, KRS-1, just to name a few. And this is by far one of THE WORST RAP ALBUMS I HAVE EVER HEARD. The ONLY GOOD track is “drop the world” and I only listen to it so I can hear Eminem rap at the end. How can you all sit back and call this AUDIO TRASH music? Shame on the record label for pushing this album and releasing it…does anybody at Cash Money have ears?? Some of you say Lil Wayne is the best rapper? NOT WITH BULLS*IT CD’S LIKE THIS!!! But this wasn’t his first terrible CD. His ONLY good Cd’s were the Carter series and his mixtapes. I’m so glad I didin’t waste $12.99 buying this terrible cd.

  • dude, you’re full of it, this album just ticked alot of people off because weezy decided to reach out to a larger crowd and care more about the fans than his image. Since he decided to join rock, it seems that he’s doing something smart, something many people in the and trygame who know what they’re doing have done. They’re stayin fresh with the times which is exactly what he did. It really sickens me how many people got upset over this because he went to rock. You what, anyone can talk fast, but it takes a real music star to pull an album like this off. Not only is weezy a veteran, but he was able to switch into a new music genre and pull it off. I will admitt some tracks aren’t in best taste, but you what, he still gave it a tried to improve himself as a musician by spreading out to other genres and adding variety to his knowledge. The matter of the fact is people are afraid of change, weezy took a chance in change, and he made it. So all you haters that are so flippin obsessed with rappers stickin to rap need to get over it. so f wayne dude? f you i dont wanna ever hear of you listening to a piece of weezy’s music ever again. I’m serious not another lyric, if you were a loyal fan of wayne’s youd stick to whatever decision he makes. That is a TRUE FAN. Whether he falls or succeeds, you’re there with him. Like i said by joining rock, he had now attracted more of an audience besides hip hop, did ya ever think about that, or are all the punk/pop/scene people like me trash to you too? in a way this review is actually very discriminative, as a person who loves all kinds of rock, if a guy can get away with screaming the whole song and makin money, than weezy has pulled a smart move. Stop hatin and move with the times, yo boy andy

  • I know this album is supposed to be terrible, but I actually really like it. The thing is, I really like Lil Wayne (as a person/icon), but I really can’t get into most of his music. I think what does it is the beats. He’s got an incredible voice and a very appealing swagger, but I have trouble listening to 98% of his tracks. I like rebirth because it is such a testament to his colossal hubris that it’s staggering. And let’s face it, that’s the only reason people really like Lil Wayne anyway. He is clearly not the best lyricist in the game, and anyone who disagrees with that has never heard of, among others, T.I., Eminem, or just about anyone on the underground scene. I like this album more than most of Lil Wayne’s music because he is so cocky that he literally switched genres to show everyone he can. And the beats and background music in the album is much more appealing than most of Weezy’s stuff.

  • I’m going to be completely honest… I’m not a fan of Prom Queen, but I am a fan of Wayne’s guitar skills. Now, let me break it down for all you haters as well as you uneducated lovers…

This is the worst rock album ever. But for Wayne, is a pretty big cross-over album. When I first heard Knockout my reaction was “What the hell is this crap?” But after listening to it a few times, it’s not half bad. I think the songs are something you have to warm up too.
The album itself would get a 2.5 out of 5 from me.

I think it took guts to make an album like this, and I don’t think people should be hating on this man’s insanity/creativity. Cause’ he’s still making money off of this mess. And putting your two cents in isn’t making him lose any of it.
    Just my point of view.

“123 they yelling 123, I done hit em wit that motherfuckin court 2 piece, tell em, tell em to mop out, too late to cop out, Give em more head than tupee’s that’s a KNOCKOUT! -Nicki Minaj”

  • Chris Deline is a musical retard who has no other place in society that he can get attention, except for writing pure crap reviews. He can’t understand what he is listening to (if he even did.)

Look at the massive appeal this cd is having. That’s because it is excellent. Rebirth is GREAT WORK. Deline’s review is PURE GARBAGE.

Hey Deline, where is your cd?

  • whoever out there thinks this album is good is a straight retard…..this is a terrible album ….the one minute of good music doesn’t even come from lil wayne …on a scale of 1 to 10 this album deserves a 1

  • Rebirth has some of my favorite Lil Wayne songs!! listen to the verses in Ground Zero and tell me thats not awesome. Hes one crazy mutha fucka

  • I don’t know why the heck you guys are having a problem with rebirth. It’s the best album of lil waynes in my mind and it’s one of my favorite period.
I love rebirth, ground zero, drop the word, Get a life. I don’t know about you guys but it’s awsome.

  • I am not a human being is much worse. Can’t believe how much that album is clutching all the shit he hadn’t released and was just thrown together. Worst Wayne album ever

  • This album is better (as a collection) than any other album dude has eve done. i actually listened to the whole thing, back to back. Shame he started off as a talented rapper, now rappers won’t respect him cause he wants to be a rock star and rockers won’t respect him cause he isn’t a rocker – hmmm maybe he has created his own genre – filthy mouf rock. lol

  • Hmmmm… I happen to be a lover of all musical genres, theres not a genres i dislike, like pop, hip hop, rap, rock, country, blues, metal… basically i would listen to anything.

One day however, I heard that Lil Wayne was making this album, so i had to sample a little of it out of curiosity, AND WAS APPALLED!

It is the worst clash of noise and wannabe rapper I have EVER heard, and thats saying something, cause i listen to Limp Bizkit

  • I am listening to Rebirth on Rhapsody. I listened last night on earbuds and I was thinking all day, did I really hear rock that good. This is like classic grunge of the Papa Roach era mixed up with some Prince and even some anthem rock. I think people are judging it because either they know Wayne…or they nothing of him, and judge it on what they expect to hear. But what is on this album is truly great.

  • a lil late right here :D but i’m not being funny, it’s one of his best albums, i’d like to see some other acclaimed rappers taking on rock music. he did it in such a unique way still incorporating his rapping skills in the songs. i’m obsessed with lil wayne but i would be fair if i thought it was rubbish and i would say so myself. but i think ur review is a lil harsh. :(
