The Amherst trio had towers of amps stacked up all over the stage, including one that was pointed directly towards front man J Mascis, in case his monitors weren’t providing him enough of his own guitar sound. And not having enough sound has never really been a problem for the group, and it certainly wasn’t on this evening as the band tore through a fiery 90 minute set that spanned the band’s entire career.

Claude Peck reports on Marilyn Manson & Slayer’s co-headlined show, suggesting that he missed Antichrist Superstar, “Manson leads the kind of band that parents pray their children won’t like. Which, in rock, is a formula for fame.” “With no room for sweetness, variety or melody, it feels like an all-black fireworks show,” points Peck on Slayer’s set. Slayer lacking variety? You don’t say… (Star Tribune)

The Wu-Tang helmed Rock The Bells show which was to be held in the Metrodome parking lot will now be held at The Myth on the 25th of August. With that change, the Queens of the Stone Age show has been moved to First Avenue the same night. And everything was well. (Star Tribune)
