Toby Cryns recalls of Wednesday night’s Metric show at First Avenue, “The jumping and swaying of the crowd brought me back to the days of basement rock shows in college…the kind where everybody is sweaty and mashed into a small area and singing along with the melodies coming from the corner.” (Lunch of Champions)

Peter Bjorn and John stopped by MPR and performed a studio set for The Current. (The Current)

Meat Puppets are coming! Meat Puppets are coming! November 10 @ the Varsity. (Brooklyn Vegan)

Greg Swan recollects Wednesday’s Aliens show @ the Varsity, “With a fan gently blowing his Scofro (Scottish Afro, our term, thank you), Anderson kicked off festivities with album opener, ‘Setting Sun’ – a fantastic choice, showcasing guitar, organ and drums from the intro to the outro. The crowd went nuts, dancing commenced and the stage was transformed into party central.” (Perfect Porridge)

And prior to the Varsity show, The Aliens stopped by MPR, playing a studio session. (The Current)

Steve Engelmayer reviews last Friday night’s Rilo Kiley show and includes a fantastic Flickr set. (Rock ‘n’ Roll Star)

I have no idea how I’ve missed mentioning this, but City Pages have tallied the votes and have picked Mouthful of Bees as their 2007 “Picked to Click.”  “It’s been called our beauty pageant, our popularity contest, our way of crowning a homecoming queen, and our attempt to maintain our own legitimacy…” (City Pages)
