The Amherst trio had towers of amps stacked up all over the stage, including one that was pointed directly towards front man J Mascis, in case his monitors weren’t providing him enough of his own guitar sound. And not having enough sound has never really been a problem for the group, and it certainly wasn’t on this evening as the band tore through a fiery 90 minute set that spanned the band’s entire career.

Following last week’s Minnesota State Zoo performance Son Volt stopped by Minnesota Public Radio, performing a studio set. (The Current)

Rob van Alstyne recalls of Sunday night’s Mouthful of Bees show at the 7th Street Entry, “It’s likely we won’t be seeing too many more MOB shows on the horizon in the immediate future, these kids all have to get back to college for now and some matriculate out of state, but I’m already anticipating the prospects winter break holds in store for Twin Cities night clubs.” (Reveille Magazine)

Atmosphere has announced a fall tour which kicks off with two Duluth shows; oddly enough however the show has no stops at First Avenue. (Pitchfork)
