The Amherst trio had towers of amps stacked up all over the stage, including one that was pointed directly towards front man J Mascis, in case his monitors weren’t providing him enough of his own guitar sound. And not having enough sound has never really been a problem for the group, and it certainly wasn’t on this evening as the band tore through a fiery 90 minute set that spanned the band’s entire career.

Menomena: Take Away Shows

La Blogothèque recently added to its already marvelous series by recording a few songs by Menomena, set in both a back alley and a remote set of train tracks. An introduction to the live performances underlines the importance of small children in the importance of live music, challenging their innocence and questioning if it ever honestly leaves…honestly something I’ve never really given much concern to in the past. Seeing the performance of “Wet and Rusting” however drives home this theory. (Les Concerts à Emporter)
