Oh yeah, I forgot Nancy did that song too. I think of “Bang, Bang etc…” as a Sonny & Cher song. Also covered by Frank on “She Shot Me Down”, which is a stellar cry-in-your-bourbon album.

Jim, the Nancy Sinatra song was “Bang Bang (My baby shot me down)” which is itself actually a cover of a Sonny Bono song.

I did feel bad that the bar chatter was so loud throughout Fierke’s set.

I was impressed with Mary Everest as well – will definitely have to check her band out again. Not sure who the opening duo was though, I didn’t make it for any of that set.

Which was the Sinatra song? I thought she really owned the Portishead cover. The band was tight, vocals were strong, mix was bass-heavy (always is in a club) and spirits were high. All in all, a very good nite! I was pleasantly surprised by Mary Everest’s set – didn’t know what to expect and while very different in tone from her album, her live stuff was good. Tough to punch a laid-back vibe over bar chatter tho…who was the opening duo? They started before I arrived and came back to play with Meredith at the end of her set. Very cool jams with guitar & Hammond/Leslie keys.

Jenny, not sure when her next live show will be but she’s doing an in-studio on Cities 97 on Jan. 11th.

All the bands were great. I went to see Meredith play, I have not seen her before. I too was taken by her voice. The Nancy Sinatra cover was wonderful.

I heard her on Cities 97 and had to check out the show… amazing. Her voice is soo pretty. Where is she playing next?
