The Amherst trio had towers of amps stacked up all over the stage, including one that was pointed directly towards front man J Mascis, in case his monitors weren’t providing him enough of his own guitar sound. And not having enough sound has never really been a problem for the group, and it certainly wasn’t on this evening as the band tore through a fiery 90 minute set that spanned the band’s entire career.

Merry Christmas from Culture Bully.jpg

To even the non-believers, I say…good music still exists, and on this day of days it is provided in two lump sums. The first being the twenty four song Christmas themed mash-up mix “Santastic II: Clausome,” presented by Boston bootlegger dj BC. The second is a not-so-Christmas themed holiday sampler provided by Fat Wreck Chords, featuring rare and unreleased tracks from Culture Bully NOFX, Leftöver Crack and Me First and the Gimme Gimmes. Both sets can be downloaded as zips, so even if all you found under the tree this morning was a sack of valuum and a bottle of generic cognac you’ll at least have some good tunes to take you to wherever it is the trip takes you.

dj BC “Imagine Santa”
Divide and Kreate “Jingle Jane”
Loo and Placido “Horny Christmas”
Pilchard “I Want a New Limb For Christmas”
Totom “Rudolph The Paranoid Reindeer”

dj BC Presents: Santastic 2

NOFX “No Way”
Me First and the Gimme Gimmes “City of New Orleans”
Lawrence Arms “The Rabbit and the Rooster”
Leftöver Crack “World War IV”

Fat Wreck Chords X-mas Bonus
