The Amherst trio had towers of amps stacked up all over the stage, including one that was pointed directly towards front man J Mascis, in case his monitors weren’t providing him enough of his own guitar sound. And not having enough sound has never really been a problem for the group, and it certainly wasn’t on this evening as the band tore through a fiery 90 minute set that spanned the band’s entire career.

Last I heard, Jerry Only was still pulling down both bass and vocals which really bums me out. Both ?xml:namespace prefix = st1 /st1:place st=”on”Danzig/st1:place and Michale Graves held down the position with success in my opinion and I think that it’s really shady to sing an ex-band members lyrics without their consent. Here’s a tune from one of the last “Misfits” undertakings, Project 1950. The band, which featured Jerry Only, Dez Cadena and Marky Ramone, released an album in 2003 full of hits from the 1950s. I don’t really like it. I didn’t really like their last album and I’m thinking that this will be another crapper. You can check out their MySpace site for another song from the new album. I haven’t done so, so I can’t suggest it, but after hearing “Gross Out” I really don’t know that it’s worth your time. I think this is kind of similar to “The Doors of the 21st Century” that evolved from a “Doors reunion.” While this regrouping, set for the Nova Rock Festival in Austria, isn’t tainted by a battle for royalties or use of the band’s name, I still think it’s a sham…Alice in Chains of the 21st Century.
