Murs “Varsity Blues” Video

The crisp minimal shots used in the Darryl Richardson-directed video for “Varsity Blues” work well with Murs‘ focused lyrics nicely, the dark visuals complementing the MC’s battle with a timeless artistic dilemma. “They say I’m only good when a session is depressin’/So I crucify myself so that you can learn a lesson/They say I’m at my best when I’m the most stressed out/It’s like I only see success when I’m wrestlin’ with doubt.” It has to be hard to be at your best when doing so disregards such a weighty caveat. Adding production on the track is Murs’ brother in Felt, Aesop Rock. Aside from the Varsity Blues 2 EP, which “Varsity Blues” appears on, Murs is set to drop Mursworld 2011 some time later this year. (Dap to Hypetrak for the video.)
