What’s Good in Nashville? Those Darlins, Rites of Spring & Blastoids

Here’s what’s good in Nashville for Wednesday, March 2…

Those Darlins announced yesterday that anyone who pre-orders a copy of their new album Screws Get Loose from Grimey’s will receive access to an exclusive March 12 show at The Basement (opening will be Denney and the Jets & D. Watusi). Until then, get a taste of what’s to come with the release with this music video for “Be Your Bro.”

• A couple other notes of interest on the Grimey’s front: David Mayfield Parade will be playing an in-store March 3, Tristen & the Ringers March 5, Colin Hay March 7, Matt Wertz March 15 and Jessica Lea Mayfield March 24. Also, don’t forget to check out the countdown of last week’s best selling albums at Grimey’s & The Groove.

One Vanderbilt student makes a terribly misguided plea makes his case for electronic music at future Rites of Spring events.

• Looking to go to SXSW but are a bit strapped for cash? Blastoids might have your back: “We are playing a mini tour on our way to Austin and then enjoying all the free food, drinks, and shows that we can at SXSW. We are taking the bus and can accommodate approximately 10 people with bunks and space for luggage! Come see some rad bands and enjoy the festivities. You will meet some religious girls! Cost is $150.00 per person, which includes transportation to and from SXSW, a place to stay every night, multiple shows, and a kick ass time.” Note to Blastoids: If you want a half-assed blogger to “document” the experience, look no further: I’m your guy. (I’m broke, but I’m your guy.)
