Neil Young: “Looking For A Leader” Video

Quite honestly the visual accompaniment to Young’s “Looking For A Leader” could have been a completely insulting look at the inadequacies of those currently in power. Bear with me: In one of many of his great spoken word moments Henry Rollins made comment of how cool it would be to actually have a President that you loved, like the Ramones, or Miles Davis. He noted how different a world it would be it the President was followed everywhere he went by mobs of people, who truly respected him/her and showered them with affection and attention. How honestly refreshing would it be to wake up every day and know that there is actually someone at the helm of your nation that is looking out for the interest of the majority, someone that you might be proud of, someone who didn’t get into sticky situations in the Oval Office or abuse his power. Maybe Neil Young is right, maybe it’s not an ivy-league graduate with a shady history that this country needs, “maybe it’s a woman, or a black man after all.”
